I coordinated a response when his twin-engine aircraft developed engine
problems flying from Hawaii to San Luis Obispo CA. It was out of range
for our helicopters, so I advised our HH-65 to try and intercept at a waypoint
to escort. Then I called Vandenburg AFB to see if they could do a coastal
response. The USAF Major said...'gotcha'
Next thing our helicopter heard was 2 F-15's telling them to stand down,
that they would take the escort. And escort they did, all the way to
a safe landing at Santa Barbara!
