Woodward violated his first rule of "journalism", when interviewing ex-CIA Directors, make sure they are in a coma. I suppose you can excuse him after seeing the quality of his political analysis on MSNBC.

“Because it wasn’t corroborated intel,” the spokesman told The Washington Times. The spokesman said one senior official wanted to include the document which would have been a mistake.
