I've wanted Sessions gone since he recused himself. Best I can tell, he hasn't done anything but attend Sheriff's Assn Luncheons. Regardless excuses/reasons or whatever, if you are the AG of the US you don't recuse yourself from jack shit. It's called "malingering" in the UCMJ and is a punishable offense. It's not dereliction of duty -- it's shirking your duty. The President didn't appoint you to avoid confronting so-called "friends/associates" because you feel uncomfortable.

I would have no problem with appointing Trey Gowdy in Sessions' place.

Regardless, I'd say Trump just gave notice to Mueller.

Yup, heard this early today on twitter. So the "sorry, I'm just a crime monitor" is gone... well good freakin' riddens. He's been an absolute FAILURE from DAY ONE. I've also heard today that the new fill in AG, Matthew Whitaker, is planning to "DEFER" much of the Mueller investigation to that little ferret faced, back stabbing, really believes he's untouchable, Rosenstein.

What I'd like to know is, did President Trump appoint this interim AG or what?
