Gone With The Wind... because it's in color... ;)

On a more serious note, I just think that Gone With The Wind is a more interesting story, not to mention the movie truly is an epic, with one of the most well known quotes in the ending of any movie ever made...

Tough call, especially living in Atlanta, but I've always been a Bogart fan...

:)...Did you know that Lauren Bacall (who eventually married Humphrey Bogart) put a golden whistle in his coffin?

Which do you prefer and why?Casablanca. Love old B&W flicks. GWTW is however, the older movie.

I like GWTW. Even read the novel in HS. The film is pretty true to the novel. Meaning, both are long on drama, verbose, and short on action.

Clark Gable, Olivia DeHaviland and Vivian Leigh are ZERO match for Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Claude Rains acting-wise.

GWTW loses out because of length. I saw it the first time in a theater and when they had intermission halfway through the movie I was in WTF? mode. Even then I'd maybe watch it if it happened to be on until TBS/TNT just ran it into the ground as they do with anything they get.

Just a personal preference :)

Difficult to say....

Casablanca is one of the best movies of the Film Noir era.

Bogart, Bergman, Claude Rains and Paul Henreid were perfect in their roles...

Gone with the Wind is a different Genre altogether .. The grand epic with a huge cast.

Clark Gable, Vivian Leigh, Leslie Howard, Hattie McDaniel, Butterfly McQueen....the cast is endless

Even George Reeve before his days as Superman....

You cant compare the two .... both giants of their Genre's

Compare Casablanca to Key Largo....

Compare Gone with the Wind to Ben Hur...

I think I am going to read the gone with the wind novel. It's a pretty good novel if you have the time. It is kind of long. The movie is not far off. What the book does is explain all the "between the lines" details you don't get from the movie. I don't have anything against it other than previously mentioned.

Starting in the late 70s when they released it for tv (was a 2-nite special event) and then Turner getting hold of it just wore it out. Then there were the bro's calling it racist and all that crap, a Civil War Movie, blah, blah, blah.

The story is Scarlett OHara and Rhett Butler. Everything else is a backdrop to and in support of that story.
