Ocasio-Cortez's Economic Idiocy Is Going To Give Trump A Second Term

You all know about the Green New Deal. It’s Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) disaster of a plan aimed at transitioning us away from fossil fuels within ten years, upgrading all building to be energy efficient, and if need be, kill all cows because of their methane farts. It’s not serious. There’s no price tag lasted because it would be ruinously expensive, soaring into the trillions of dollars. There are no tax projections either because it would be equally absurd. The far left’s inability to explain how they will pay for Medicare for All in just the first decade, which is estimated to be $30+ trillion, is all you need to know. This is the Willy Wonka chocolate ferry ride from hell. It’s an economic acid trip into fantasyland. It’s not serious. And yet, virtually the entire 2020 Democratic field thus far has signed off on it. It’s economic illiteracy.

And it struck AOC and her ilk again with Amazon’s withdrawal from building a headquarters in New York City. People of color in AOC’s district wanted it, but whites didn’t. This is the type of idiocy that could give Trump a second term, and MSNBC was there to fire red flares to that effect (via Free Beacon):

MSNBC's "Morning Joe" broke away from its daily grievances with President Donald Trump Friday to accuse Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) of economic illiteracy and helping reelect the president.

For seven minutes Friday morning, the show's hosts and guests worried that the self-proclaimed Democratic-socialist was flaunting her ignorance and celebrating the loss of American jobs. "Morning Joe" co-host Joe Scarborough lamented that New York "was robbed of this Amazon opportunity" at the expense of the most needy.

Amazon announced Thursday it would no longer be building a second headquarters in New York City. Explaining the dramatic reversal, the tech giant pointed the finger squarely at local opposition. "[A] number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City," it said.

Ocasio-Cortez had spoken against the move since November, complaining that Amazon would be receiving tax breaks. On Thursday, she took to Twitter to celebrate the city's loss. She claimed she had "defeated Amazon's corporate greed." The "greedy" company's move was forecast to create 25,000 jobs and inject billions of dollars into the economy, and had the support of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D.) and other veteran party leaders.

It reminds me of an old Abbott & Costello routine

Abbott: LOU!!!! How stupid can you get?!?!?!?

Costello: I dunno, how stupid do you want me to be?

She certainly gets a lot of clicks (as her numerous threads on this forum alone show). So similar to Trump in a world where media revenue is based on ad revenue which is based on clicks...the outcome is inevitable.

Clicks don't equate to much.

Prisoners get attention. Death row gets attention. Car accidents get attention. Sometimes things simply get attention because they are just that, like a car wreck. You seem to think that multiple threads on a single person somehow equates to something good.

Sometimes stupid and a car wreck equates to just that.

When will you accept that she is a pathetic JOKE?

She painted a bulls eye on herself from Day 1.

Even Oprah - whom I cannot stand - told her to shut up and learn your job.

It IS possible that she can get attention AND votes AND reelection, based solely on her stupidity. It WON'T change the fact that she has displayed never before seen retardation. That she is dumb and dumber rolled into one. That she's a running joke based on her own wise words.

But yep, Oprah, Behar, Mika - all the other retards in the club, have frowned upon her, as she is taking away from their own attention as a result.

Cher Splashes Cold Water on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's Celebrity Cult

Cher is one of Hollywood's most reliably left-of-center celebrities. But even the "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!" star has her limits.

The singer/Oscar winner tweets consistently about her hatred for President Donald Trump and all things GOP. And, in many cases, she uses ALL CAPS in case we can't hear her.

Something changed this week.

Cher took a not-so-subtle swipe at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.J.), the far-far-left congresswoman who never met an absurd Green New Deal she didn't adore. We learned this week that Amazon nixed a deal that would bring thousands of jobs to the New York area.

Ocasio-Cortez led the charge against the plan and boasted of her "victory" on, where else, social media.

That didn't sit well with Cher, though, for all the obvious reasons.

https://i.imgur.com/KoAXH0a.png

What happened? Call it reality. Cher may be entrenched in her progressive ideology, but she still has enough common sense to realize what jobs mean to various communities.

Spoiler alert: A lot.

It's just one tweet, but it suggests we'll see an evolution in how Hollywood embraces the socialist in the weeks and months to come.

Right now, Hollywood is happy to share Ocasio-Cortez's tweets and even cheer on her Green New Deal. Late-night comics have fawned over her, turning their desks into propaganda machines for her ascent.

Saturday Night Live has featured her in skits at least twice. On both occasions, the portrayal has been positive, without zeroing in on her many gaffes. The most recent appearance featured her as a "Charlie's Angels" type heroine taking down the bad guys, aka President Trump. Heck, it's as if her own staffers wrote the "jokes" in play.

Queens/Bronx/Long Island City... Those areas and areas outside of there, would have eaten those jobs up quicker than a NYC minute. And a ton of it spent in a NY minute in the NY area as well.

De Blasio Blasts Progressives Who Think 'It’s a Good Idea to Lose Jobs' After Amazon Pullout

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio called Amazon's pullout from their planned Queens headquarters project "astounding," "disappointing," and "disrespectful to the people of New York City."

At the beginning of the month, de Blasio said Amazon should adapt to NYC's progressive culture in bringing a corporate headquarters to the city, and vowed to "hold their feet to the fire" to reap community benefits out of the online giant.

The Amazon announcement late last year promised to bring 25,000 jobs with an average salary of $150,000 a year, situating the hub in Queens. Yet the backroom negotiations and $3 billion in city and state tax subsidies prompted progressive protests and discontent among local residents.

"After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens," the online giant announced Thursday. "For Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials who will be supportive over the long-term. While polls show that 70 percent of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City."

Amazon added that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and de Blasio "worked tirelessly on behalf of New Yorkers to encourage local investment and job creation, and we can’t speak positively enough about all their efforts."

The company said it doesn't plan to find a replacement city for the onetime New York headquarters, but would move ahead with its previously announced Northern Virginia and Nashville development plans.

"To get a call after, you know, months of attempting to build a productive partnership on behalf of this city, to get a call out of the blue saying 'see you,' you know, 'we taking our ball and we’re going home' – it’s absolutely inappropriate," de Blasio told the Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC today.

There was talk about a month ago, about maybe bringing in a heavy hitter for her next election and do what they can to get rid of this one. Things like this certainly aren't helping her cause, or the label of idiot!

Dem Rep Maloney Hits Back at AOC’s Opposition to Amazon HQ2: ‘It Used to Be That We Would Protest Wars — Now We’re Protesting Jobs’

Friday on CNN’s “OutFront,” Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) reacted to Amazon’s decision to pull out of an agreement to build its second headquarters in New York City.

The decision was heralded by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), but Maloney questioned that opposition.

Partial transcript as follows:

BURNETT: I want to ask you about another big story tonight, Amazon, abruptly canceling plans to build, it would be a massive headquarters in New York. People like your colleague Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez have been celebrating this. You’ve seen this from some several progressives. She said, “Today was the day a group of dedicated everyday New Yorkers defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world.”

It’s your district, not hers, now is that how you see it?

MALONEY: Absolutely. My constituents want jobs.

BURNETT: This was 25,000 job.

MALONEY: Twenty minimum, it would have been many, many more, 25,000 jobs at 150,000 minimum for the for the job. Many entry-level jobs would have been – many, many more they were working with the community on job fairs and the other types of entry-level jobs that they would have. There were promises for a new school and having – as a former teacher. I was intrigued with their plans to have a curriculum in 30 different schools supported by Amazon on high-tech.

We should be really diversifying our base of taxes, our base of businesses. We’re too dependent on financial services. And it used to be that we would protest wars. Now we’re protesting jobs. People are complaining about jobs coming to your – this is the best – let me tell you, Erin, if this had gone through, it would have made overnight New York City the high-tech capital of the East Coast. The most important job center for tech jobs.

And as a former member of the City Council, I have worked through several mayors in trying to figure out how to diversify our economy. We’ve been investing in high-tech schools, ones on my district, Cornell Tech to train the next geniuses in tech. Now, we would have had a place for them to go to work. But Amazon …

BURNETT: But you don’t because the progressives in your own party, including people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who get so much attention now. They stopped it.

MALONEY: Well, I’m a progressive too, but I’m pragmatic. If someone is going to bring a job to my district, to my city and billions of dollars in tax revenue, you also had a story this week that we were $3 billion under projected revenues for the state and roughly $1 billion under projected, this is the first quarter, we’re $4 billion less than we usually get and yet we’re kicking out a company that would have been paid – they were projecting over 10 years roughly $27 billion in taxes and not to mention the economic activity, the small businesses were thrilled because there would be more activity.

I am disappointed. It used to be if you wanted to change something you worked with the contract to change it. You didn’t just take them out.

BURNETT: No, they probably said they didn’t talk to them.

MALONEY: I know. They just said, “We don’t want it.” And they are demonstrating and against it, and it’s jobs, it’s jobs, I’ve never seen anything like this. Most of the time people are trying to figure out and spending most of their time trying to figure out how to bring jobs to New York and to keep them here.

While the liberals are making nicey nice with Hollywood - will they take the same approach when a huge company as such calls them in to discuss? Or will she just continue with her ignorance?

Every company will have their share of complaints from some workers. You see the same with Walmart and Costco, and some stemming from fired workers. Folks don't tend to complain much when they are happy.

Amazon Invites Ocasio-Cortez For Tour, Calls Worker Claims Untrue

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A senior Amazon.com Inc executive on Friday disputed claims raised by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that Amazon workers face “dehumanizing conditions” as being untrue and invited her to take a tour of company facilities.

Ocasio-Cortez, a newly elected progressive Democrat who was an outspoken critic of the plans to locate Amazon’s second headquarters in a New York City neighborhood near her congressional district, asked on Twitter if Amazon’s culture of “strict performance” is “why Amazon workers have to urinate in bottles & work while on food stamps to meet ‘targets?’ Performance shouldn’t come at the cost of dehumanizing conditions.”

She cited a September Newsweek story that raised those claims.

Dave Clark, Amazon’s senior vice president of worldwide operations, responded on Twitter that the claims “simply aren’t true. We are proud of our jobs with excellent pay ($15 min), benefits from day 1, & lots of other benefits like our Career Choice pre-paid educational programs.” He invited her to take a tour of Amazon’s operations.

A spokesman for Ocasio-Cortez did not respond to a request for comment.

Ocasio-Cortez was among progressive New York Democrats who had objected to the $2.8 billion in incentives from the city and New York state to woo Amazon to build a new headquarters in the city’s borough of Queens. Amazon abruptly canceled the plan on Thursday.

“When the community wanted to negotiate, Amazon said ‘all or nothing.’ They bailed when they didn’t get 100% of what they wanted,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “Google came into NYC just fine. Amazon wanted to be Foxconn.”

Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Co won $4 billion in state and local incentives from Wisconsin in exchange for a promise to build a $10 billion development.

Earlier this month, Foxconn said it would still build a factory in Wisconsin even as it shifts more of the focus of the investment away from manufacturing. Reuters reported Foxconn was reconsidering making liquid crystal display panels and intended to hire mostly engineers and researchers there.

Yep, AOC is New York’s billion dollar babe

But it’s money leaving the state not coming in

Well, if you believe in the Bible, the LORD is angry with wicked every day ... otherwise you might call it karma... whatever

Payback time to Governor Cuomo for signing a law to murder babies and celebrating the fact that he did...serves him right

Also, advice to NYC voters... next time vote for your interests not against them and get rid of that annoying chihuahua AOC and Governor Cuomo
