Two Gaza Rockets Fired at Tel Aviv, One Intercepted

Gaza source tells Haaretz rockets were fired from northern Strip but it is unclear who stands behind fire ■ Alerts blare in Tel Aviv for first time in two years

The Israeli army said at least two rockets were fired at Israel on Thursday night, causing rocket alerts to blare throughout central Israel.

According to the Israeli military, the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted one of the rockets, while the other is likely to have landed in an open area.

Israelis reported hearing sounds of blasts in the area, with some saying that they saw the Iron Dome missile defense system intercepting rockets.

The last time rocket alerts were activated in Tel Aviv was two years ago, in what turned out to be a false alarm.

A Palestinian source in Gaza told Haaretz that the rockets were fired from the northern part of the enclave, but that it was unclear which group initiated the fire.

Rocket sirens sound in Tel Aviv, Gush Dan

Two rockets were fired towards central Israel on Thursday evening, with at least two loud explosions heard, the first time sirens were activated in Tel Aviv since the last war with Gaza in 2014.

According to reports, the two Fajr-5 rockets were fired by Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in Gaza, the second strongest group in the coastal enclave after Hamas. One was reported to have been intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system while another one is said to have fallen in open territory. There were reports of a number of Israeli who were treated for shock.

PIJ has been assessed by IDF military intelligence as a factor increasing the risk of an escalation since it is not under the direct control of Hamas and acts independently for its own interests.

The group first fired an Iranian-made missile at Tel Aviv during Operation Pillar of Defense in 2012 from the blockaded coastal enclave.

It's the same old story, isn't it ? Hamas attacks Israel. Israel responds militarily. Many parts of the world condemn ISRAEL for what THEY do, in response to being attacked.

Hamas suffers from the reprisal, settles down, rearms, attacks months or years later. Israel responds militarily ..... etc ..... etc ..... etc.

In the meantime, of course, Lefties worldwide bleat on about how GAZA suffers, how the Israeli response was disproportionate and 'lacked humanity' ... all the time forgetting that even 'severe' counterstrikes don't neutralise Hamas, that they just rebuild, rearm, re-attack, when the time is ripe for it.

For my money .. Israel would do well to remind the world of the implacable determination those terrorists are driven by, how far they'll go to make Israel suffer .. just because they EXIST.

THEN -- having made their case very clearly, I believe Israel should move to wipe Hamas from the face of the earth. Get it over and done with.

After all, Hamas wants nothing less than that to happen to Israel. The destruction of Israel is a cherished, foundling objective that Hamas has always had. Israel is only defending its right to exist, and is doing so against terrorist scum.

`Israel's Channel 10 news, citing anonymous military officials, said the rockets were Iranian-made Fajr rockets. It said one of the rockets landed in an uninhabited area, and that there were no reports of injuries.`
