Wish I could still work on fighter jets. I'd reenlist in a heart beat if they'd take old veterans. I love the fighter jets, always did, always will. I never ceased to be amazed by them even after 8 years of working on them. I felt privileged to even be able to work on them.

Air Force Squadrons Showcase 'Overwhelming Combat Airpower' During Elephant Walk

A squadron of USAF aircraft "elephant walked" down an Alaskan military base on Tuesday as part of a routine to demonstrate their combat airpower and response abilities.

The “elephant walk,” which refers to the close formation of military aircraft before takeoff, comprised of 24 F-22 Raptor stealth fighters, a C-17 Globemaster III transport and an E-3 Sentry. Units usually perform an elephant walk to give pilots practice in teamwork and prepare for wartime operations,

Tuesday's demonstration took place at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, according to Stars and Stripes.

The routine was part of Polar Force, a two-week exercise that allows squadrons to showcase "their abilities to forward deploy and deliver overwhelming combat airpower," officials said.

Air Force officials posted photos of the close-formation taxi on Facebook. Video from the exercise shows the aircraft taking off one by one before returning to the airstrip.

The F-22 Raptors are from the 3rd Wing and 477th Fighter Group, which are both associated with Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

Should a crisis arise in the Pacific region, the aircraft and airmen of the 3rd Wing would be among the first responders, according to The Drive.

In case anyone might be interested in seeing these WONDERS in person.

You don't have to be on the AIR BASE to see them in person. LANGLEY AFB. Close to me.

Not that far from me here at Truax Air National Guard base in Madison, WI, they just got F-35's. They used to F-16's, the last fighter I worked on in the AF.

I'd give my left testicle to work on those. I mean, I liked working on the Harleys, especially since I got to, had to, test ride every bike I ever laid a wrench on, but I liked working on F-16's in the Air Force more. I enjoyed it, I was good at it, and I was always in awe of the jets. It never got old. When they found the pinched nerves in my neck and took me off the flight line, that was the end of my career, a short 8 years. I had planned to life it when I reenlisted. One of the big regrets of my life is that I couldn't.

It doesn't matter HOW LONG YOU SERVED. ALL THAT MATTERS IS....THAT YOU, AND EVERY OTHER VETERAN....DID IT. Unlike the other 99.9% of America who will never know the PRIDE, and SELF-SATISFACTION..."WE HAVE!"
