Unsure where I'll land after Germany - hard to believe i'm going on 4 years here already.

So - because Hunstville, AL has a metric-ton of DoD jobs i've been casually looking at them and places to live. I happened upon this charmer and I am smitten. Be sure and look at the photos - the place looks amazing. Un-plugged and authentic and a bit of peaceful heaven. And that PRICE? OMG...

You have good taste in houses then.

its perfect for me. I love walking into the house and feeling like the house is making me its own, not me making the house my own. I would want it furnished and decorated like that. Slipping into the house after a long day of work would be a bit like slipping back into the late 1800s.

It's cool, but I'm betting haunted. They don't tell of the people that died in the house. Way back when people invariably died in their home, and were then laid in repose there in the house for visitation and viewing before they were buried. As old as that place is, good chance there's a spirit still hanging around.

Why yes, I do. ;)
I ’ve made our family room colonial, complete with an ancestor’s actual Revolutionary War musket, but the house itself isn’t old and doesn’t have that wonderful character.

My dream is to have a little colonial-style tavern in my home.
Maybe when we move to NH...

I have a job opportunity in Hella- erp...Delaware...There's a place in Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI - the Eagle Tavern - it's part of Greenfield - which is a collection of authentic, no-shit, actual homes of famous ppl in history. Merriam Webster's house, some slave quarters, Edison's laboratory, and many many others. But the Eagle Tavern is a period tavern with 1800s menu items...its incredible.

Looks similar to the home where my Mother-in-law grew up in Donegal, Ireland. She passed last December at 99. And she was still sharp enough to remember how LIFE used to be.
