Just for a week of vacation, actually. Lots of people I know have been to Vancouver over the past several years, and all have raved about it, so I figured what the heck.

Is there anyone here who's familiar with the city and can recommend good places to visit and/or restaurants?

absolutely!

Death by Chocolate. On Denman? street.

Stanley Park (near Death by Chocolate)

Be warned - lots of Gay Pride shit there...still, it's a beautiful city.

[edit] - my Mistake - here's the one I visited (Marked as "A"):

You can see Stanley Park right up there near it.

If you have time, take a ferry ride to Victoria. It can easily be a day trip.
