View Full Version : I went kayaking

Despite my lack of sleep and the hot weather, I had to get out of the house, notwithstanding my new AC. :)

So I did go kayaking after all. Not too choppy, more than I expected, but still a most perfect day. I saw a harbor seal and a male sea lion (7-8 footer, pretty big for the bay), however, both were uncooperative in taking pictures. The sea lion was behaving like a kid in a pool. Splashing all around, doing crazy eights, and such. Pretty cool.

Grab a lemonade and lets go:

Morro bay estuary, one of the few left that are protected. Bay was not full enough for me to paddle in, could have put the rudder up and gone a wee further, but good enough and it captures the whole essence. IMO.

I tried to take a good picture, something like D's, Jon's, so what do you think? I don't mind critique, I am trying to get better and soon I am going to get a better camera, but I want to get a new surfboard next weekend. hmmm...... Will still get camera though. D or Jon? Or anyone else who actually has something constructive and intelligent to say about photography.

I was in a kayak remember. :)

Thanks.

Thats fair. I was trying to get the scene of the bay onto film. I do have adobe PS 5.0, but am very limited in using it. I rotated and cropped.

It would be hard to ask how to make the shot better, unless you are there. But, I tend to agree with you. Looks different when you quoted it. I wonder if the scope of the photo was not right. D's and Jon's tend to focus more, where my shot seems to be of the area, without any focus. ???

Had a great day though. Water was cool. Came back into MB with the tide, not against. Awesome.

If I ship you, at my cost, two bottles, same size as that in my pic, of bay water, will you drink it, film it and post it? Bay water means: the same bay my ass was "sitting" on

Yes or no?

No kidding. NM, are you telling me you would drink out of any lake? Any.

And I want you to drink out of the bay, at Morro bay. Afterall:

Send him one of those.

Then, he can buy one bottle of generic water, one bottle of Dasani (Dasani being the best "cheap" water), and one bottle of Fiji.. Line them up, and drink them.

If that doesn't give him a clue, he's got no tastebuds.

There is no way to argue that. Dasani is the best cheap water, and Fiji is definately the best.

There is no difference between bottled water and tap water. I used to test tap water when I worked at Sears with our computerized system. The only ones that came up different were the well systems. Then you just put the PUR filter on the water outlet you used for drinking water and it would come out completly clean.

These bottled water companies have people brain washed to think that for some reason bottled water is somewhat better. It is one of the best scams I have ever seen, almost as bad as the Scientology cult.

Hate to say it, but Sears isn't exactly at the top of the ladder as far as anything electronic goes, much less water testing facilities...

Taste is a large factor in water, and if you don't think it's possible to taste the difference in bottled waters, again, yours aren't functioning..

Take the tests as outlined in this thread, and then come back with an *honest* assessment..

Generic water will set you have about 69 cents a bottle. Dasani will set you back about $1.29 a bottle. Fiji will set you back about $2.99 a bottle.

Let's just say you get what you pay for.

Yep.

If anyone needs evidence that water from different sources can taste different, you needn't look further than a bottle of Aquafina. That stuff tastes like it came out of a toilet.

Truth be told, we're on a small well system where I live and the tap water doesn't taste too bad. Once it's run through a filter in the refrigerator it's even better. However, if I'm out and about and need something to drink, I almost always opt for bottled water.

I can't even drink tap water from *anywhere* anymore..filtered or not.. The taste difference is unbelievable, and it ranks right up there with "gross".. If I don't have access to bottled water for some reason, I'll drink diet soda, or coffee..no exceptions.
