This is pretty good. I can't figure out how much they have to pay Juan Williams to keep a straight face. The talking heads on the other channels are pretty funny too.
I thought the 4th of July was ABOUT parades? I stood in enough of the damned things (my "holiday"). The celebration of US independence from Great Britain. Minus all the bullshit, smoke and mirrors, that is a historical fact. Who the f- besides hyper-politicized leftards don't like a damn party/BBQ?
I got my red. white and blue PT gear all set for the AM workout. Fuck all these dumbasses. I'm filling up the pool for the grand-rugrats and grilling steaks -n- chicken.

And this one says it's "heartbreaking"
Now I REALLY wish they were rolling some jets and absurdly monster sized rockets, humvees & the whole nine yards. A monster parade of that and colors and bands and everything 4th of July in one!! Then follow it up with millions of dollars of fireworks & bombs.
I love a good parade and honoring of our military and a damn good celebration of our country!! Maybe have a beer or 2, some good eating and watch it all with family.
Or you can watch a "TRUE CELEBRATION" she says - by tuning into her livestream of a live address from New Hampshire. WTF? She thinks an ad for her and attention whoring to herself in NH is better than an American parade with American military stuff and all the goodies and fireworks.
Hmmmmm, choices choices, so many choices. Which shall I choose? It's so hard!

Marianne Williamson Calls Trump’s July 4th Event ‘Heartbreaking,’ Will Host ‘True Celebration’ Livestream
Self-help author Marianne Williamson, one of more than 20 Democrats running in the 2020 presidential election, called President Trump’s July 4th tribute to the military “heartbreaking” and “repugnant” in a tweet on Wednesday.
“Watching army tanks being hauled thru DC for Trump’s July 4 celebration is heartbreaking & repugnant,” she tweeted.
She also encouraged people to join her via livestream for a “true celebration”:

I like this response to Nike:
https://www.ninelineapparel.com/collections/betsy-ross-stand
STARTS TO SHIP JULY 12THIn Greek mythology, Nike was the goddess of victory, symbolized as a divine charioteer, flying over the battlefield to reward the victors. When it comes to symbolism, is there a more quintessential representation of the American Spirit than the Betsy Ross flag? A symbol of victory and independence, Old Glory represents the birth of our great country as a sovereign nation and the humble roots of the colonies that these 13 stars represent. We find it disgusting that Nike, a company named after the Goddess of victory, would be so easily swayed into a false narrative that an iconic patriotic symbol of America’s independence now somehow – over 200 years later - holds racial and divisive undertones. The social commentary that Nike is trying to impose on this symbol just shows how dismissive they are of the principles that our country was founded on and how out of touch they are with the values of the American public. We at Nine Line are still standing true to our patriotic values, and we encourage the American people to stand with us to make their voices heard. #NoToNike

My take will be not popular perhaps. I agree that it says something. A lot of people are proud of our country today. And more because the perception of a lack of respect by the NFL and others. Politicians and celebrities are more outspoken than ever, with many talking smack about America anymore. I think that, whether right or wrong, has spurred many to further show their patriotism. Some truly believe that and some do/say so simply because Trump is in office. And it's he that wanted this parade and display of love for America, and that's why instantaneously every single Democrat has spoken out and against, and some even saying some weirdly, not very American disapproval of all the above. Whether that be complaining about the funding, the hardware, the amount of fireworks, the amount of portable toilets, the airplanes... basically everything. Down to and including Trump himself. And that's OK with me, don't go if you don't like it, and hit another local event instead. Or stay home and enjoy the various TV shows. Or one can simply avoid everything and watch repeats of Cops and Live PD if that's what they want.
Ad there will be a ton of Trump supporters there, the MAGA hats are there already, and they (the news) started labeling this is a Trump rally as of yesterday anyway. Whatever. Let anyone complain, there are going to be tons of protests too, so they can enjoy the stifling heat out there too! And then we can all watch some great fireworks on TV, unless any of you plan on being there, of which I highly doubt!
But I'm a proud American and a proud military supporter and a proud supporter of things blowing up & other things blowing up in the sky with massive red, white & blue colors!

'This says something': Thousands expected to attend Donald Trump's 4th of July celebration
WASHINGTON – Tanks, protests and fireworks, oh my!
Thousands will be gathering Thursday in the nation's capital to celebrate the birth of America for its annual fireworks event, which this year will feature Army tanks, a flyover of military jets, Air Force One and fireworks. The centerpiece? A speech from President Donald Trump — the first time in decades that a president has addressed the crowd.
But protests are expected and Trump is facing criticisms over the costs of the event and has been accused of injecting politics into a traditionally nonpartisan event. This year's celebration won't just attract tourists, Washington, D.C., residents and families looking to observe the holiday. Both protesters and supporters of the president are descending to the heart of the nation's capital – potentially putting the patriotic holiday on a collision course for partisan fights.
'This says something'
Many people donning the MAGA hats stopped one another along the National Mall when they saw others wearing the same hat or shirt, yelling “Make America Great Again” or “Go Trump!”
Jim Sutton usually attends the parade each year with his wife, Gigi. But the couple, who sported head-to-toe Trump gear, said something felt different this year.
“It’s just fantastic,” Gigi Sutton said, in her white Trump T-shirt and flag pants.
The pair said the criticism aimed at Trump’s use of military equipment in the event was unwarranted.
“We’ve been having all these problems with Iran, North Korea. This says something,” Gigi Sutton said. Her husband chimed in, “it lets the world know our nation’s defense is well at hand.”
Security was particularly tight in the city leading up to Trump's speech later in the evening. Authorities have blocked off several blocks surrounding the Lincoln Memorial. Large tan, military vehicle blocked entryway into the memorial with Army National Guardsmen packing into the beds of pickup trucks ready for the day’s festivities.

What to expect at the Washington DC 4th of July: Army tanks, a burning flag and Baby Trump
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump will take center stage at Fourth of July festivities in Washington D.C. that will also feature Army tanks and military flyovers.
The event is expected to draw ardent Trump supporters but there will also be protests, including the burning of a flag and the flying of a "Trump Baby" balloon.
What could possibly go wrong?
The annual Independence Day celebration on the National Mall, known as the 'Salute to America,' will start with a parade and end with a spectacular fireworks display. It will be anything but your routine extravaganza.
There will be flyovers of the Blue Angels and Air Force One, a lineup of military vehicles including tanks, and a pyrotechnic display that will illuminate "over a mile of sky above and to the left and right of the Lincoln Memorial," according to fireworks makers Phantom and Grucci which is donating extra pyrotechnics.
And there will be Trump, revered by supporters and reviled by opponents, appearing during a celebration presidents have tended to avoid for fearing of turning the nation's birthday into a partisan event.
Already, protesters have threatened to air their own counter celebration.
Trump's planned festivities are being compared to Richard Nixon's 'Honor America Day' in 1970 but that event devolved into riots as anti-war protesters were tear gassed by police.

We also got tear gassed and had to leave because of hippy demonstrators having nothing better to do than f*ck up everyone else's good time. (Was a Vietnam war demonstration)

Desperate cry for attention and everyone knows it
That's what Schumer claims. I'm confident Trump already receives enough attention at this point, and everyone knows that. So what schumer's doing is taking advantage of anything he does to speak out, anything and everything. The little nitwit is just upset that they know Trump will get credit for this and they would like to see it fail. They are A.o.k. with $93 trillion of spending, but the money spent for a parade is too much for them. They are hitting every last thing, and I mean everything, making everything a fight and a protest. They think it's going to harm him in 2020. And hell, look who they have, what do they have to lose at this point? Idiots.

'Show of a lifetime' or waste of taxpayer dollars? Trump defends 4th of July extravaganza
WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump on Wednesday defended his Fourth of July extravaganza amid growing questions about its expense and concerns that he is politicizing an annual holiday celebration.
In a pair of tweets, Trump dismissed criticism of the event, which will take place Thursday at the Lincoln Memorial and will feature Army tanks, a flyover of military jets and Air Force One, fireworks and a speech by the president himself.
“It will be the show of a lifetime!” he wrote.
But critics denounced the celebration, which the White House is calling a “Salute to America," as a costly and unnecessary spectacle that is injecting politics into what has traditionally been a feel-good, patriotic and decidedly non-political affair.
Trump has said the celebration will honor the nation’s military. But others complained that the event has the over-the-top trappings and feel of a Trump campaign rally.
“President @realDonaldTrump’s ego is so large that he’s holding this Fourth of July campaign rally in a desperate cry for attention, and everyone knows it,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., wrote on Twitter.

And the sheer amount of folks like this, and the Nike crap and the NFL crap and more burning of flags crap... it is starting to make others speak up and growing tired of it all, as they continue to try and bring down America in many respects.
---
This Fourth of July, why patriotism is worth defending
For the haters, it’s open season on the American ideal.
Colin Kaepernick doesn’t like today’s American flag because it reminds him of police brutality and he doesn’t like Betsy Ross’ O.G. flag because it reminds him of slavery. I’m starting to think maybe Colin Kaepernick is not so fond of the flag, or of the country that made him rich.
Nike supported him by withdrawing the Betsy Ross-flagged sneaker. That’s right, the American flag, in any form, is now apparently a toxic symbol. The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, actually praised Nike.
Meanwhile, the Charlottesville City Council just voted to stop celebrating Thomas Jefferson’s birthday in the city where he died on the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence he wrote. American patriotism has just reached a record low entirely because of Democrats, of whom only 22% say they’re “extremely proud” of their country. To celebrate the Fourth, America’s most prominent newspaper is bidding for the trolling Hall of Fame by running a video, titled “Please stop telling me America is great,” that argues how America is “just OK.”
Remember the distant past of 2016, when leading voices of progressivism were saying, “America never stopped being great” (Hillary Clinton) and “America is already great” (Barack Obama)? All that’s over.

Students say America is NOT the greatest country on Earth
As Americans celebrate the Fourth of July, a new Gallup survey shows pride among the country's residents at an all-time low.
Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips traveled to George Washington University to see if inquire further.
This Fourth of July, people across the nation will set off fireworks, grill, and spend time with family in celebration of America’s independence.
But not everyone will be feeling the patriotism.
A recent Gallup survey shows the number of people who consider themselves “proud or very proud” to be American is at an all-time low.
According to the survey, just 45 percent of Americans considered themselves to be “extremely proud” of their nation, while the number for those in the Democrat party was at 22 percent- a ten percent decrease since last year.
Wanting to know whether college students were proud of their country and whether they think it’s the best in the world, Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips headed to George Washington University to find out.

San Francisco to paint over historic George Washington mural
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco will spend up to $600,000 to paint over historical artwork at a public school depicting the life of George Washington, a mural once seen as educational and innovative but now criticized as racist and degrading for its depiction of black and Native American people.
The “Life of Washington” was painted by Victor Arnautoff, one of the foremost muralists in the San Francisco area during the Depression. The San Francisco School Board’s decision to paint over the 83-year-old mural is prompting some to worry that other artwork from the so-called New Deal era could face a similar fate because of changing sensitivities.
In addition to depicting Washington as a soldier, surveyor, statesman and signer of the Declaration of Independence, the 13-panel, 1,600-sqaure foot mural at George Washington High School contains images of white pioneers standing over the body of a Native American and slaves working at Washington’s Mount Vernon estate in Virginia.

I don't think that interjecting an hour speech by the President can actually be 'non-partisan.' Of course it's about Trump, there can never be enough about Trump, for Trump. With all that said, I don't mind the parade or fireworks or the nod to military.
I sort of mind, but I always do-when it comes to taxes-that we're all picking up the costs of this.
Most cities, counties throughout the country have 4th of July activities, with the costs of extra police and fire department costs budgeted for. Anything over and above that comes from the Jaycees or Kiwanas or Chamber of Commerce or even door-to-door collections for the fireworks or deposits for the bouncy houses, bands, etc.
The fed throwing the party though, it seems to me the only 'extra' costs are a bigger scale of 'police/fire' and trucking/training in the military stuff. The planes gonna fly and pilots gonna practice, fuel will be spent, etc.
So when the 'costs' are brought up, I'm just not sure what would be duplicates and what are costs incurred for the event alone.

I just can't believe the left's bold-faced crap. Again. The major MSM networks are all choosing to not cover the parade simply because it's Trump. THAT is some SERIOUS hate AND some serious ownage by Trump, like it or him or not. Who cares if he throws a parade?

Actually, as I said I figured the cost increases would be manageable. I've posted here or on other thread that the speech was great and I enjoyed the airshow and military. I thought it more unifying than I would have thought possible.
Same as other years? Nope. Not with carting the heavy armor and having to keep secure. Not with the president, vice president, first and second ladies for more than an hour-that's pricey.
Do I think it was worth it? Yes. I do.

Yes. I do.I watched the fireworks at Seaworld from my front porch. Because I happened to be there :)
This is just another big ol' hissy fit by the left over nothing.

The left is going to have hissy fits no matter what he says and does!
If he sat this out, they would pillory him for ignoring it. But becoming
a part of honoring our history and the founders, they pillory him.
No pleasing these leftist crybabies.
