Prime was having their PRIME DAY going so naturally I checked out the deals, and lo and behold this drone popped up...

... so I popped on it. I had a little drone before that I flew around some but it was a total cheapie. It was hard to fly and control. It had a mind of it's own and would wander off, and even a slight wind would blow it away. This one is a little more intermediate and gets exceptionally good reviews. It has a 1080p camera but the video still isn't that great. The camera isn't gimbal mounted and doesn't even really have any image stabilization, so whatever it takes as far as video, if the drone is moving around a lot, the video will be too. But if you're lucky and the drone is stable, you can get some pretty good video or take pictures. I just want a better drone than I had before to get a better idea what I can do with one. I do want to get aerial video and a picture of my place that I can print out and frame. If I like it and use it, I might think about a better one.

It comes today, and I'll have to register it before I can fly it.

Drone came yesterday, unboxed it, got it all assembled and the batteries charged, went online and registered it, 3 years, $5, put the registration number on it and I'm ready to go. Problem is the weather. Can't get a break in WI.

But, take a peek... here it is... pretty impressive I think. No it's not a $1,500 high end drone, but it's not a $20 walmart special either. It's a good learning drone that has all the right stuff, it's well built and gets great reviews. I can't wait to fly it...

Indeed, there's always a way to break stuff! ;) Cool to have your own 'drone destroyer!'

You have to remember I live out in little backwoods Podunk, WI. I'm not going to be flying it around packed neighborhoods and in city streets.

I had to register it too, and there are rules to where you can fly it. I looked them over and I'll abide by them all.

I live on the Wisconsin River which is a pretty good sized river. There's all kinds of little streams and tributaries that lead into it, and I want to kind of scope them out without having to walk the bank, which in a lot of places is almost impossible. But I'm a "MAGNET FISHER," and scoping out where to magnet fish from the air can be a real bonus.

I have a millionaire friend that buys and sells Harley parts internationally, and he gave me a golden tip when I was visiting with them on the 4th. He said that a person tried to drive a Harley knucklehead across an old damn one time and it fell in, and it was never recovered. Well the damn has been torn out, but they never found the bike. I have two different magnets, one has a pull of 888 lbs and the other has a 1222 lb pull. I'm going to take the drone over and get a birds eye view of this, and then try and MAGNET FISH that old knucklehead out... YEEEE HAAAWWW...
