I started to say "rock" songs but that doesn't fit my all-inclusive, socialist plan :) Besides, I don't listen to just rock and I doubt many here restrict themselves to just that.

I've also tried to start this thread a few times and always end up with a novel on commercials, dumb songs, rants about what is "classic rock" and everything else. Let's see where this goes, IF it goes anywhere.

First two for my generation have to be Stairway to Heaven and Freebird. The "National anthems" for rockers in the 70s. I still like the songs. And I just about cringe every time I hear the first note of either because they play the f*ck out of them. You tune in to "classic rock" and you'll be lucky to go an hour without hearing one, the other, or both.

Eye of the Tiger.

Tigers was my high school mascot and this was pretty much THE school fight song. I LOVED hearing it play after I had just ripped some wide receiver's head off or whatever and have always thought it was a great song. Then Rock Band on the PS3 came out and my kid played this song no less than one thousand time a day every day for a year and now I hate it.

Can't stand Freebird, never did like it. I don't like any song that just drones on and on like it's session music or something.

In any case, I listen to so much different stuff that right now I can't think of an old song that would irk the hell otta me, probably because I haven't heard any old music for so long. Spotify does such a great job of throwing out new music to listen to, that's about all I ever hear.

Rock n Roll music is my favorite but I never did listen to just Rock.
I do so dearly and with just cause abhor and hate Rap.
Southern man here goes with Rockn Roll and Country music as first two.
After that straight up blues, a bit of jazz and then certain other types of classical music.--Tyr
