I guess I should be sad and I am ... but not as much as I'm angry.

My best friend had colon surgery today to remove tumor .... but they couldn't get it all. The cancer has spread and is going through the abdominal wall and it is really bad.

I'm mad because I've been after her for years to get colonoscopy. She is such a freak about her "private parts" that she would only do the fecal smear. She is 74 and just had a colonscopy last week and they found a mass. She has had to be hospitalized 5 times over last two years for intestinal infections in her psosas area ... three surgeries and finally found the cancer.

If she had not been such a prude she might not be dying of cancer now.

I’m sorry Sassy. That really stinks.

I'm sorry for your hurt. We really can't make choices for others, in spite of how we feel. It's hard. Sort of like watching our kids make bad choices when young, (worse when older). If she's your best friend, she must be pretty terrific. All you can do is be there and enjoy her. Prayers.

Thank you for encouraging thoughts.

Saw her today and she is in good spirits. Her kids decided to not tell her how bad it is until doctors know exactly what type of cancer, what stage it is and come up with plan. So, she currently thinks all is well. It's going to be heart breaking when she finally realizes.

Such a terrible situation. I remember when my Dad had his first colonoscopy, and they found a whole bunch of polyps. None of them were cancerous but they had to snip them all out, and they told him, don't exert yourself for at least a week. But what did he do? Well of course he went out in the garden got one of them bleeding, and they had to rush him back to the hospital for internal bleeding. He lived, but it was bad.

But the thing is, people really need to have that done, no matter if you like it or not. I've had a few of them already and they SUCK. The drinking the crap and up all night shitting water, but if it saves you life, it's a small price to pay.

I hope your friend pulls though, Sassy. My aunt didn't like hospitals or doctors either, and she probably died before she had to too, just because she didn't want to go in when she was feeling ill.

I don't like hospitals either, but I know that's where they save your life.

PRAYERS for your good friend are as powerful as the Love you feel for her. As a Cancer survivor myself. I can't tell you how she feels. But I'd guess...to save all of you the pain. She already knows. Just keep being her friend, smile, pray, and give her the support she needs. God Does work in Mysterious Ways. I can prove it myself. In 2009. I died twice on the way to the hospital. Stay strong for her. Okay?
