Room with a view!

Got some pretty great conditions right now. About 5' of powder with a nice base. I'll be freighting a few tons of building materials, a couple of 6x6 wheelers, a big diesel 5k generator, solar panels... and chances are good for hauling beer, too.

I've got 2 weeks to get it done before I fly with the wifey to Seattle... I'm going to be busy, but this is a fun kind of busy.

What you should do is get on an airplane. I could use an extra rider to escort me up and down the river a couple hundred times.

Oh, and help loading all that stuff onto the freight sled!

I'll pick you up at midnight from Anch Intl

Part of me really wishes I could, and part of me is glad I can't! That's some seriously heavy lifting going on, and it'll happen on both ends of the trips too. Then again, I wish I could do my best and help just to repay for a once in a lifetime vacation/experience! But unfortunately no way I could afford to do both without losing a wife in the process. (I know, I thought about it...)

If I can make it in the summer, and there is work left to be done, I'm in and more than happy to do what I can!!

Yeah... shameful, isn't it?

I drank my coffee black for decades, and then a woman got me a vanilla latte one day and I liked it so much that I put French vanilla creamer in my coffee now.

That Denali coffee with the foo-foo creamer is really really good! Not very macho but it's too good to pass up.

Oh shit, I know you too well by now!! You'll set her straight alright. And she'll be going "Ummmmhmmmm.... Uhhhhh hmmmmmm" and "Really? Tell me some more about it...." or if lucky maybe even "I'll think about it".... but most likely she would giggle/laugh....

And then Jim gets further laughed at afterwards by her. And then Jim gets the crap beat out of him for giving out her number and setting her up like that!

Don't feel bad... I love that vanilla Coffee Mate stuff too. I use the regular Coffee Mate powder creamer too.

Great pics, as usual.

:coffee:

I have tried! For both winter and summer. I really pushed for the summer as I KNOW she would love it there. But then she reminds me of endless reasons... 2 dogs, a cat, 3 fish tanks running, kids who wouldn't lift a finger to help.... and it goes on. But also, I don't think she's too fond of traveling in general. Been trying to get her to go to Disney and/or back to St. Lucia for years!

I learned to "un-drink" it with anything when it came out of a C-Rat packet. C-Rat instant hot coffee and hot water. And THAT was a luxury because you could shave in your steel pot and have the coffee going in the canteen cup. Enter kevlar Nazi helmets  You suck down your coffee from your canteen cup, rinse, reheat water if you're lucky enough to have the time, then shave. If you shave first, coffee tends to taste like your bar of soap (bet you thought we had shaving cream in the field :) ). I ain't humping that shit. Takes up too much room in the pack and is explosive.

That's one more thing that's good in the marriage. I do not need to drink this instant crap anymore. Wife helps me to pack up for the road like I'm a child, and I love it. She's a keeper :) She ordered one of those (https://coffee-statistics.com/best-italian-espresso-machine/) grinders from Amazon and now I drink french press. Not even embarassed that I have no idea how to make a coffee.

I wouldn't know how to act if someone did all that for me.

From one military veteran bachelor to another... I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN... :thumb:

I'd be like... "that's ok dear, I know how to make my own coffee... why don't you scramble some eggs while I make the coffee and toast and set the table?"
