I added in maybe as who the hell knows what the truth is anymore.

And more on the masks, and the truth, and I think we'll soon see folks clamoring to get them, and won't be able to. Right now mostly all going to the hospitals and other medical communities. Or pay 50x the price on Ebay. And then to further the problem though, they are still advising alternatives and leave the N95's for the hospitals. From what I know, only the N95's will work for this. Yes though, the others block something and that's better than nothing! Also prevents you from touching your face.

Experts tell White House coronavirus can spread through talking or even just breathing

(CNN)A prestigious scientific panel told the White House Wednesday night that research shows coronavirus can be spread not just by sneezes or coughs, but also just by talking, or possibly even just breathing.

"While the current [coronavirus] specific research is limited, the results of available studies are consistent with aerosolization of virus from normal breathing," according to the letter, written by Dr. Harvey Fineberg, chairman of a committee with the National Academy of Sciences.

Fineberg told CNN that he will wear start wearing a mask when he goes to the grocery store.

"I'm not going to wear a surgical mask, because clinicians need those," said Fineberg, former dean of the Harvard School of Public Health. "But I have a nice western-style bandana I might wear. Or I have a balaclava. I have some pretty nice options."

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key member of the White House's coronavirus task force, told CNN Tuesday that the idea of recommending broad use of masks in the US to prevent the spread of coronavirus is under "very active discussion" by the group.

Los Angeles mayor says all residents should wear masks

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti (D) on Wednesday called on the city's millions of residents to start covering their faces whenever they are out in public as part of an effort to combat the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.

Garcetti said on Twitter that the decision was guided by data showing that many of those infected with the virus are asymptomatic.

"[It is] why we are recommending you use cloth face coverings plus physical distancing for essential activities," he said, advising against using "surgical and N95 masks, which are reserved for first responders and medical workers."

The mayor noted in a press conference that night that he had been waiting for guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on whether to issue the advisory. But he said that he elected to make the move without CDC communication after seeing the number of confirmed virus cases continue to climb in the region.

“To be clear, you should still stay at home. This isn’t an excuse to suddenly all go out,” Garcetti said.

I've read a few reports that say it's aerosol now, and that's bad. Really bad.

By my count, it's mutated 5 times in 2 months :

Bat to Human
Human to Human
Human to Cat
Human to Dog
Aerosol

The aerosol thing would explain how incredibly fast this infects huge numbers of people. I'm not hearing anything official about this, though.

Yep. I remember one year I kept getting strep. The kids were all under 5, winter. I was being treated for the 5th time, so tired, losing weight. My parents called the ex and told him they were taking me down, alone, to FL for 10 days. I got better, meanwhile my doc called the ex, told him to get the dog tested for strep. The dog was the carrier than kept reinfecting me. :(

That's insane that it mutates like it does. Reminds me of this scene from Outbreak, where Hoffman was great I might add:

You can't fix stupid. Unbelievable. Then again, I don't think Gov. Ducey is even this 'woke' yet:

Georgia Governor: I Just Found Out That Asymptomatic People Can Infect Others
ALLAHPUNDITPosted at 11:31 am on April 2, 2020

...

The governor, Brian Kemp, said this yesterday in the course of explaining why he was finally issuing a statewide stay-at-home order, much later than many of his colleagues have. In his defense, it’s not like Georgia borders a state with a major emerging outbreak like [checks notes] Florida.

(https://twitter.com/andishehnouraee)A stunning admission of deadly ignorance from Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, who says he only just learned that asymptomatic people can transmit #Covid19 (https://twitter.com/hashtag/Covid19?src=hash). “ndividuals could have been infecting people before they ever felt bad, but we didn’t know that until the last 24 hours.”

Did he misspeak? I can buy that a U.S. governor somehow missed the news that asymptomatics transmit the virus even though (a) Anthony Fauci’s been talking about it since January 31 (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/04/02/georgia-gov-brian-kemp-who-resisted-strict-coronavirus-measures-says-he-just-learned-it-transmitted-asymptomatically/) and (b) it’s the, uh, key factor in why containing the outbreak is so difficult. But it’s impossible to believe his commissioner of public health, Dr. Kathleen Toomey (https://gema.georgia.gov/commissioner-kathleen-toomey), didn’t know. The farking CDC is located in Georgia, for cripes sake.

Is this (https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2020/04/02/georgia-gov-brian-kemp-who-resisted-strict-coronavirus-measures-says-he-just-learned-it-transmitted-asymptomatically/) what Kemp meant to say? Not that he didn’t know asymptomatic people were transmitting the virus but that he didn’t realize the extent of it?

Kemp appears to have been citing a new number that the CDC placed on asymptomatic cases. CDC Director Robert Redfield said Monday on NPR that the number of people who have the coronavirus but are asymptomatic may be as high as 25 percent. But the idea that those people were transmitting the virus isn’t news at all.

No one wants to shut down the local economy before it’s absolutely necessary but I remember reading about a German study as far back as March 9 (https://www.statnews.com/2020/03/09/people-shed-high-levels-of-coronavirus-study-finds-but-most-are-likely-not-infectious-after-recovery-begins/) that found “very high levels of virus emitted from the throat of patients from the earliest point in their illness —when people are generally still going about their daily routines.” That was an early-ish clue that not only are people with minor symptoms or no symptoms infectious, they may be more infectious than they are after symptoms finally develop. That was a red alert as to why massive social distancing was urgently needed. Anyone could be spreading it at any given time, no matter how healthy they seemed.
A new study from China supports the theory (https://www.propublica.org/article/what-we-need-to-understand-about-asymptomatic-carriers-if-were-going-to-beat-coronavirus) that asymptomatic carriers are dangerous:

[I]A study of 94 patients in Guangzhou, China, found “the highest viral load in throat swabs at the time of symptom onset” and concluded that meant that patients would be most infectious right before or at the time when symptoms started appearing. That study was published online as a pre-print and has not yet been peer-reviewed, but lead author Dr. Gabriel Leung, dean of medicine at the University of Hong Kong, said it has been accepted for publication in the journal Nature Medicine. Another study, also conducted by researchers in Hong Kong and published in the journal Lancet last week, found that viral load, this time in a saliva sample, was “highest during the first week after symptom onset and subsequently declined with time.”

Relatedly, there are reports floating around today speculating that coronavirus might hit especially hard in the south, particularly the deep south. If so, it’ll be a combination of two things: Bad governance in the form of governors not shuttering businesses early and lots of preexisting health problems that make cases more severe. It’s not a surprise that New Orleans looks to be the next epicenter, possibly with a much higher death rate (https://news.yahoo.com/why-orleans-coronavirus-death-rate-100627119.html) than New York City:

WTH? Even I knew that with all this crap you will usually always have folks that are asymptomatic and can pass the hell out of things like this and never get sick themselves. AND they have specifically been talking about it with Covid-19 for a long time, so he must simply be an ignorant idiot. Unbelievable is correct.

This is weapons grade stupid. He needs to be immediately removed from office before he kills anyone else.

Yeah, and the governor of AZ is even worse. Then again, many of the citizens are the result of AZ education which is not reassuring.
