At least worthy of a read and yet another angle on things. And even better when we hear from the various doctor professionals, good or bad.

‘Mindless And Destructive Measures’: Tucker Questions Why Leaders ‘Chose The Chinese Model’ For Virus Response

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called some of the more extreme steps U.S. officials have taken to fight the spread of coronavirus “mindless and destructive.”

Discussing the fact that the United States choose the “Chinese model” on coronavirus response instead of Sweden’s on Friday night’s “Tucker Carlson tonight,” Carlson lamented that it “would have been nice if authorities had learned a lot more” about the virus before “they took such drastic steps.”

“They could have chosen the Swedish model of targeted restrictions coupled with voluntary distancing, or they could have chosen the Chinese model – total lockdowns, internal travel restrictions, punishment for those that step out of line,” Carlson opined. “Our leaders chose the Chinese model.”

The Fox News host noted that measures have become “more restrictive” with “every passing day.”

“Requests that people stay indoors have become orders that people stay indoors,” he said. “People are being fined and arrested for driving alone, for playing catch in the park, for paddleboarding on the ocean. How are measures like that keeping us safe? The short answer is we have no idea that they are keeping us safe. In fact, as noted, we still don’t know much of anything, but we’re definitely not encouraged to ask too many questions about it.”

The Daily Caller co-founder played a clip of Dr. Anthony Fauci saying Americans may need some sort of “certificate of immunity.”

“Your papers, please,” Carlson mocked. “Imagine a country where illegal immigrants can work, drive, get welfare and vote all without a single authentic document. Meanwhile, more than 300 million legal citizens must produce government papers to produce their right to go outside.”

Noting that Easter services “have been banned in many places,” Carlson said, “Authorities will allow citizens to go to the supermarket but not to practice Christianity in public. The Chinese population would recognize that too.”

The Fox News host turned his attention to Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who has “ordered the few stores that are still open to fence off areas that offer furniture, paint, home improvement goods.”

“Governor Whitmer considers these ‘nonessential items’ so she’s prohibiting their sale,” he said before questioning her reasoning. “Wouldn’t closing off more sections of the store increase crowding in the areas that remain open? Where exactly is the science that shows this works? Of course, there isn’t any. They feel like doing it so they are doing it.”

“Politicians understand in the end that the only risk for them is in restraint,” he concluded. “Authoritarian overreach is almost never punished. When the coronavirus has finally passed from this country our leaders want to be able to say they took it seriously. But there is nothing serious about reactions like this. These are mindless and destructive measures.”

‘The Data Is In — Stop The Panic And End The Total Isolation’: Fmr. Stanford Chief Of Neuroradiology Discusses Viral Column

Dr. Scott Atlas, the former chief of neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center and a senior fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution, made a Friday night Fox News appearance to defend his viral column about why the ongoing coronavirus panic, and the ensuing government-enforced shutdowns, should end.

Atlas’ column, titled “The Data Is In — Stop The Panic And End The Total Isolation” and published Wednesday at The Hill, lists “five key facts” that are “being ignored by those calling for continuing the near-total lockdown,” along with evidence to bolster each one.

Those “facts” include:

Fact 1: The overwhelming majority of people do not have any significant risk of dying from COVID-19.

Fact 2: Protecting older, at-risk people eliminates hospital overcrowding.

Fact 3: Vital population immunity is prevented by total isolation policies, prolonging the problem.

Fact 4: People are dying because other medical care is not getting done due to hypothetical projections.

Fact 5: We have a clearly defined population at risk who can be protected with targeted measures.

“Leaders must examine accumulated data to see what has actually happened, rather than keep emphasizing hypothetical projections; combine that empirical evidence with fundamental principles of biology established for decades; and then thoughtfully restore the country to function,” Atlas wrote.

The former Stanford doctor appeared on Friday night’s edition of “The Story with Martha MacCallum” to discuss his conclusions.

“I think we are in a different position now than we were a month ago,” Atlas said. “That position is we have a lot of evidence. We don’t need to just simply emphasize hypothetical projections. We can combine that empirical data instead of ignoring it. We can combine that with our knowledge of fundamental biology, decades we’ve known a lot about viruses, a lot about infections, and for decades, even about this family of viruses. And then we can thoughtfully combine that evidence with the way to restore the country in a safe way.”

Atlas defended his contention that people have a low risk of dying from the virus as being “shown all over the world” as dire death projections continue to decline as larger infection rates are discovered. Most of the infected were asymptomatic or “have zero symptoms,” he said, and the vast majority “certainly” do not require hospitalization.

“So when you look at the newer data that has come out, the estimates are that the fatality rate is very low,” he said. “Maybe 0.1%, I mean it’s not set, it’s not known exactly but these are estimates. We also know that when you take the people who are going to die, two-thirds of people are over 70. 95% of people are over 50. If you’re young and healthy you have essentially zero, near zero chance of dying.”

The former Stanford doctor pointed out that 99.2% of those who died had “some underlying condition,” a fact that should be “critical information” for policy makers.

He then argued that “protecting the at risk population” does not “mean total isolation” for everyone else.

Just saw a headline that young and middle-aged people are dying from COVID-related strokes. I couldn’t link or read the article without subscribing, so no further info, sorry.

Sounds like the same issues that are found in older people, 'blood clots.' There's lots of nasty about this virus.
