Of course they ignore this. Too busy with panicking about outbreaks, and Trump making things worse. Telling this takes away a lot of fear and might make you think we're on a much better path now, can't have that!

Media ignores 90% coronavirus death collapse in country

On Sunday a major positive milestone was reached for the first time, coronavirus deaths declined by 90% in this country from the high set on April 21st. That’s an incredibly positive story about our national battle with the virus. Yet, shockingly, it has received almost no media attention.

That’s indefensible because this is not complicated data to track down. You can see it yourself on this chart here, on April 21st 2,693 people died of the coronavirus. Yesterday 267 died. Putting that number into perspective, an average of 7200 people died on Sunday of something other than the coronavirus and those deaths received almost no media attention at all.

That’s a monstrous 90% drop in deaths the space of two months, a tremendous sign of positivity which clearly suggests that the worst of the coronavirus outbreak has now passed. But the media mostly ignored it in favor of a continuing embrace of fear porn. (For the coronabros out there, yes Sunday tends to be the lowest day of the week, but if you want to use the seven day moving average instead of Sunday, the data still reflects a 70+% decline in mortality, a similarly wildly positive story.)

Yet look at all the Monday morning headlines that have been collated by Outkick readers beneath my original tweet featuring the New York Times own Monday morning web headline, which didn’t even take note of the collapsing death totals. This is a particularly glaring failure in light of the New York Times electing to make its cover story last month a recitation of people who had died of the coronavirus.

Almost no mainstream media outlets in the country have made note of the collapsing coronavirus death total in this country.

Why is that?

It’s certainly not because the media is attempting to share fair and balanced journalism with its audience, it’s because they’ve recognized fear porn drives engagement, even if it isn’t reflecting reality. Scaring people to death works. Emotion is the coin of the social media realm and logical analysis of facts is disfavored if it doesn’t elicit the same firestorm of social media pandemonium.

Put simply, the mainstream media doesn’t exist to inform any longer, it exists to emote.

What's most important information to know, as far as reporting goes, and overall nation wide health?

Deaths decreasing or increasing
Hospitalizations decreasing or increasing
Testing positive decreasing or increasing

Someone can potentially get sick, potentially end up in the hospital and potentially end up in the ICU for their care.

Doesn't it make sense that as we test more and more daily and weekly, that the numbers found to have the virus should increase with it? And we have seen some increases in areas where testing. But they don't tell you that these numbers aren't huge. They won't tell you that less and less are ending up in the hospital for 30 days. And they don't want to tell you that deaths have decreased for 30 days straight.

They want to concentrate on numbers and twist them for their story in any way possible. The hospitals abuse the numbers for $$$.

People should be made aware that such numbers are decreasing, and how low they are already compared to a few short months ago. But the democrats and the media cherry pick numbers and areas for fear tactics and avoid the truth, as usual.

Why Aren't Spiking Coronavirus Cases in Emerging Hotspots Crushing Hospitals?

As new coronavirus cases surge across a large swath of the country, with real spikes occurring in certain states, what are we to make of what's happening? It's undoubtedly true that increased testing is leading to increasing raw numbers of people testing positive, which helps explain a significant portion of this effect. But that's not the whole story, as infection rates are also up in places like Florida (though they're roughly stable nationally). Gov. Ron DeSantis has conceded this point, which was echoed by one of the state's GOP Senators, himself a former governor. That said, there are less worrisome statistics that mitigate the serious jumps in cases we're seeing. What's going on? Let's start here:

The trend looks similar in one of the largest states in the country, whose Republican governor started opening the economy back up on May 1:

The Trump administration is also highlighting the fact that daily US coronavirus deaths fell in recent days to the lowest number since the month of March. That's welcome news, no doubt, but COVID deaths lag several weeks behind infections, so the current snapshot on that metric could deteriorate shortly down the line. These data points, however, appear to be more hopeful:

AZ intensive care capacity is over 80%. Basically it's the 1st wave, not second. Cuomo is concerned that people that went to FL especially, may return to NYC, kicking off a second wave.

I'm still doing what I've done, but for the first time, more people seem to be aware of the threat.

They way it has been reported is the second they "opened up" (which would apply mostly to blue cities -- I live in one) since the State was never shut down, all the 25-35's dumped their masks and went to the dance hall. They have attributed the spike here in SA to that.

Likewise, I'm just keeping on, and more people seem aware there is a threat.

And here we are, less than a day later - and the media is spinning into high gear!

I told you all last week. The virus WILL come back, they will continue to create panic via the numbers without talking specifics. They will do all they can to keep fear out there and keep people home and the economy down. This will all help keep Biden from being forced into the public eye, forced to speak freely and live.

And find any and all negativity and find ways to hold Trump responsible for all the nations woes.

Again - with tests increasing more and more, I read anywhere from 500k and up daily now, that the numbers will spike. But shouldn't those massive hospitalizations and ICU and deaths follow that? But they won't share the entire picture with you - that lessens fear.

Now NY wants folks to quarantine if coming from elsewhere, or coming back from vacation in certain areas. Some have been talking for quite awhile now about a 2nd round of shutdowns. Of course these are all the media nitwits and politicians, folks that have jobs and will continue to do so. We halted the world for numbers that were lied about and fraudulent and massive mistakes. Are we going to allow that to happen a 2nd time?
