https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jun/27/russia-offered-bounties-afghanistan-militants-killing-us-soldiers-report-outrageThe Washington Post reports the NY Times said ...

While Hillary's old running mate makes the accusations?

Yeah. And I'm not going to wear a mask anymore because "ev says"

This is 3rd hand scuttlebutt, Pete. The first thing that pops into MY head is WHY? would Russia do such a thing? I have no love for Russia. Pretty unscrupulous place run by an unscrupulous strongman. One thing we know about Putin is there has to be something in it for him. I just don't see it.

Go talk to Schiff, he has in his possession PROOF that Trump colluded with Russia. You guys can take down Trump with all ya have!!

No need to do ANYTHING with Trump - simply force Schiff to release the information that he told America was in his possession.

I don't even think a committee is necessary or any investigation to prove the massive lying he did directly to America, on a few occasions.

The things he made up, to America and in congress, and during an impeachment proceeding - IMO he should be jailed.

Schiff started his crap while the Republicans controlled the House and they did nothing about it. They did nothing about Pelosi and she didn't just start being a lying POS in 2018.

They just ignore this crap and let it come back and bite US, "We, the People," in the ass. She should be long gone with a dozen or others.

Instead, they chose to quibble about and half-support the elected, Republican President, like him or not. If Republicans conducted business the way Dems did while King Obama had his throne set up, this would be a far better place and all this current nonsense not even thought of.

PressSec just confirmed the story, but says Trump and Pence weren't briefed on it. oh really... Russia working with the Taliban to reward US Kills and Trump and Pence aren't notified, da fuck?

PressSec just confirmed the story, but says Trump and Pence weren't briefed on it. oh really... Russia working with the Taliban to reward US Kills and Trump and Pence aren't notified, da fuck?Let's get this back in proper context.

Your original claim, and now here, is that Russia is paying the Taliban for US kills. The article from the Guardian via the WP via the NYT states Russia put a price on the head of foreigners killed. That would include Americans, but does not specifically target them. There's a difference and you know it.

When are you going to ever get over trying to play word games on this board?

The President and VP weren't briefed. So? Evidence to the contrary? Just maybe before Chicken Little-ing up to the Prez and VP, the intel community thought it best to confirm? Because what would the MSM and you have to squawk from the highest monument you haven't torn down yet had the intel community thrown that out and the President acted on it and it turned out to be wrong? Yes, that IS a rhetorical question because we all KNOW what the left's reaction would be.

You can start by not lobbying for Russia to be back in the G8. Why not Iran?

You can start by not lobbying for Russia to be back in the G8. Why not Iran? Why? Who cares?

If the story is true, which; I still am not convinced it is, then maybe Trump should ask Putin WTF? straight up? Seems like the quickest way to get an answer instead of allowing leftwing media to conduct your foreign policy for you.

So the WH press secretary is lying? What's with the question? There's nothing there. Not what you are dishonestly trying to lead a reader to believe.

WHEN there are more facts about it, THEN would be the time to formulate an opinion. There's just nothing to work with there. Well, except for you, Pete. A scroll up will find your fertile imagination running wild :)

I am quickly coming to the opinion that the leaders of the Democrat Party be arrested on charges of sedition. Aside from the latest BS from the Dem Party, it is becoming obvious that BLM’s source of funding is the DNC. If this is true, the DNC leadership is an accessory to a plot to overthrow the government.

Because you are a racist fascist. Sedition is exactly what the southern states did at the beginning of the civil war.

C'mon now, PLEASE tell me that Pete didn't jump on yet another, that ultimately turns out to be wrong. So, I lost count, does that make him 0 for 2,967 items on just Trump alone now? :laugh2::laugh2:

You would think folks would learn, at minimum not to run with ANYTHING the lefty MSM claims.

Then again, there are weird folks out there that enjoy being wrong, or that want to be right and try so hard over and over, only to fail every damn time!! I almost feel sorry for Pete. Proven wrong pretty much about everything that he writes. Comical shit!! And I can't stop laughing, more anonymous sources BS, and still jumps on it like a boss.:laugh::laugh:

Pentagon: ‘No Corroborating Evidence’ Russians Offered Bounties for U.S. Troops in Afghanistan

The Pentagon said in a statement late Tuesday evening that it had no corroborating evidence that Russian operatives offered bounties to the Taliban for American soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.

“The Department of Defense continues to evaluate intelligence that Russian GRU operatives were engaged in malign activity against United States and coalition forces in Afghanistan. To date, DOD has no corroborating evidence to validate the recent allegations found in open-source reports,” said Chief Pentagon Spokesman Jonathan Hoffman.

“Regardless, we always take the safety and security of our forces in Afghanistan – and around the world – most seriously and therefore continuously adopt measures to prevent harm from potential threats,” Hoffman added.

The statement came in response to a New York Times report that claimed that a Russian military intelligence unit secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants to kill U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan.

The Times cited anonymous officials “briefed on the matter.”

The report claimed that the U.S. “concluded months ago” that the Russian unit had offered the bounties for successful attacks last year and that Islamist militants, or criminal elements closely associated with them, collected some bounty money and that the finding was briefed to President Donald Trump.

The report claimed that the National Security Council discussed the problem at an interagency meeting in late March, and officials developed a “menu of potential options,” but the White House had not authorized any step.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said the president and the vice president were never briefed on the allegations, and that there was no consensus among the intelligence community on the allegations.

“The U.S. receives thousands of reports a day on intelligence, and they are subject to strict scrutiny. While the White House does not routinely comment on alleged intelligence or internal deliberations, the CIA Director, [the] National Security Advisor, and the Chief of Staff can all confirm that neither the President nor the Vice President were briefed on the alleged Russian bounty intelligence,” she said.

“There is no consensus within the intelligence community on these allegations, and, in effect, there are dissenting opinions from some in the intelligence community with regards to the veracity of what’s being reported. And the veracity of the underlying allegations continue to be evaluated,” she added.

The report comes as the president has sought to continue drawing down U.S. forces and end the war in Afghanistan.

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), an Army Green Beret who has served in Afghanistan, questioned the timing of the Times’s report.

“We’ve known for years that the Russians have been supporting the Taliban through arms, through weapons, through other means…so to me, this really smacks of partisan talking points of hearing Russia and the President and trying to make hay of that in an election year,” he said Tuesday in an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier.

Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), a Navy veteran who has also served in Afghanistan, slammed the Times report for citing “unconfirmed intel” that is part of an ongoing investigation.

“The real scandal: We’ll likely never know the truth… Because the @nytimes used unconfirmed intel in an ONGOING investigation into targeted killing of American soldiers in order to smear the President. The blood is on their hands,” he tweeted.

“Having served in Afghanistan during the time the alleged bounties were placed, no one is angrier about this than me,” Banks added.

“Now it’s impossible to finish the investigation. All b/c the @nytimes will do anything to damage @realdonaldtrump, even if it means compromising nat’l security.”

I have to ask... if the intelligence was there.... and Pelosi and others were also briefed on it, then why didn’t THEY act on it?

I guess they were too busy cooking up phony charges when impeaching the President?

So why is it an issue now?
