Looks like some object to FB and Twitter's censorship of conservatives. It would work for me if they put themselves out of busniess.

OAN Newsroom
UPDATED 4:40 PM PT — Saturday, June 27, 2020Amid rising censorship of conservative voices on Twitter and other social media platforms, the new app Parler has seen a large influx of users. According to reports (https://djhjmedia.com/eric/2064/), more than 500,000 new people created accounts on the site after Twitter recently banned two conservative accounts.
Parler’s user base skyrocketed by 50% this week alone, bringing the total number of users to 1.5 million.

Conservatives like Rep. Matt Gaetz and Sen. Ted Cruz announced they joined site after experiencing what they called “unfair banning of right-wing accounts.”
“They use that power to silence conservatives and to promote their radical left-wing agenda,” stated Cruz. “Big tech has shown the ability to shadow ban what you say or post without anyone ever knowing about it.”

A number of popular politicians and online personalities have also signed on to Parler, including Dan Bongino.

As awesome as that is, and the place is similar and kinda cool and zero censorship - it will never beat out FB unless FB disappears somehow. For those 500k, there are 1.73 BILLION daily users at FB, and a total of 2.6 billion monthly active. I can't figure them, but suffice to say it's a little higher than Parler. Just by a tad. :)

And when they make nearly $18 billion in the first quarter of 2020 in advertising, I think that may give them a tiny headstart.

I don't know anything about it anymore than the others but I have never heard of it until yesterday when Pete mentioned it.

Just thinking that FB and Twitter have pretty much had a captive audience, right? We'll see what a(n) alternative(s) does for that. We've had the same issue with the MSM since forever. Not much alternative.

Yeah, at one point FB had only 500k, too. This is promising.

Oh yeah, I think it only started sometime last year.

Most Patriots are staying on Twitter where the fight is...and Not going where only the "friendlies" are.

"When TRUMP leaves we leave"....is the common thought for "Patriots" on twitter...

**I see and hear it everyday on twitter...and like Most Patriots...I promote staying where the Fight is..Until TRUMP leaves...

So I joined Parler yesterday and am loving it! Quite a bit of official conservative folks and news there already which is cool. Thing is - membership is still low and I couldn't find a single person I know on there. At worst case, I will use it as another source to get news directly from politicians and news agencies.

Link? I'll look at it. I'm down with supporting something I find worthy of my support. That being in short supply these days.

Not sure how much you can view without joining, I just joined on the first screen, then looked around for a bit when done, and then filled out my info in my profile after I decided I dig the place.

Just joined. I like the community rules. One long feed seems weird to me, but then, I don’t do Twitter.
Anyone know if there are any other ways to organize/view the posts?

It's like FB in having the feed run the length of your page, but at least Parler shows EVERYTHING from folks you're friends with and following, and in order. FB changes that.

You can either scroll down your feed and read it like news from all the various sources you have selected as following. Or, you can choose any one of them individually and read their page.

What is it that you're looking to see, besides the posts of those who you follow?

I found in the beginning and still adding. This is mine so far:

CPAC
Devin Nunes
Rudy Giuliani
Mark Levin
Washington Times Opinion
Ted Cruz
Rand Paul
Eric Trump
Team Trump
Daily Caller
Breitbart News
Conservative Tribune
NASA
GOP Republican Party
Project Veritas
NRA
Mike Huckabee
Sheriff David Clarke
Candace Owens
Lara Trump
The Epoch Times
Zero Hedge

That's what I like, getting some sources directly so I know it's not being censored or ignored. Tons of things from Trump would never ever been known if not for Twitter. And I feel the same about others.

Parler is a nice all friendly`s safe space for many...until the war is over...

Meanwhile....The heat is on at twitter....its a good fight...If one knows how to operate and stay there..Many Patriots do...and fire back with much good info...and yes we are aware of `all` the games and tricks...because we can improvise...

TRUMP is still there..were are there with him...TRUMP knows and understands this...

TRUMP leaves..joins Parler...we leave Join Parler...

As you find more and more, more and more will pop up. And you can choose anyone or any outlet, and then choose who THEY are "following" and see other places and just keep adding away!

I finally found someone I know in real life on there! My Dad!

As Predicted: Parler Is Banning Users It Doesn't Like - from the that-did-not-take-long-at-all dept (https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20200627/23551144803/as-predicted-parler-is-banning-users-it-doesnt-like.shtml)

No, I don't think turn about is fair play. I think, in an instance like this, they should strive to be better.

I hope that it doesn't continue like that. But until it can be built up, I don't blame them from prohibiting folks coming there purposely to play games and mess with people. If it were for solely stating their opinions, or posting news that folks don't like or anything like that, they shouldn't act like the left and do the same.

I think of it like here. No censorship here either and we welcome all. But if someone comes here with the goal of disrupting and causing problems, they won't last. Or if they come here and purposely abuse other members, then won't last here. But they can post their opinions all day long and post threads/articles to their heart is content. I hope at least folks here or folks joining here would understand that.

So I don't know specifics of why each one was specifically banned - but if for the reasons they are more or less claiming themselves, then they were banned for their actions, not for censorship or posting like everyone else there. I would also expect to be banned and would agree with them if I went around Facebook purposely causing trouble. Same with Twitter. They all have policies about "abuse". One admits they went there to screw with people... another one writes "sketchy legal tactics: shoving legal fees onto users, requiring driver's license, and abusing pornography laws." Which is just lying. I am joined, and no fees whatsoever. Only if you want to advertise and do other things of course. You can get a badge of some sort only for "identified" members and likely important folks. They ask for them to prove who they are. I thinjk that's a good thing, this way no one can act as a public figure, for example. And abusing porno laws? More like their policy is ZERO porn and things like no pictures of fecal matter and what not. No obscenity in user names, no threats at all allowed - all normal decency things, and then left is out there complaining about it!!

Here is what they wrote, and I have no issue myself with these policies.

https://i.imgur.com/a6E8fMT.png

"Thor Benson" claims he was banned and they quote that. He doesn't tell you that he joined as "The Federalist" and tried to claim he was them, and got banned. Seems reasonable for trying to claim to be them, if you ask me.

Again though, anyone banned for other reasons, non-valid reasons, they should stop any/all of that if they want to be successful. But stopping folks like I mentioned I don't have an issue with, nor wanting to keep it decent.

I already saw a guy with a name like “I hate Ted Cruz” on there, posting a pic of someone clearly masturbating.
If I want to see that tripe, there are umpteen places to go. I reported it and blocked the member. It totally disappeared.

If this site can be different, I’ll stay.

That's why on FB for example, I only add friends or certain people. I won't share my feed with the public. I do understand that if I post in others feeds, they may be public. So it adds up and things get exposed. Or it adds up and all the exposure leads to cross abuse. People I never heard of and no one ever heard of, somehow coming across posts/threads and then simply starting trouble.

In a perfect FB for me, I keep my feed private, and all of my friends have done the same. Now it would be one large closed friendship community. But far too many others open things up to the public. And Twitter is worse, it's basically like a free for all by default. Everyone and anyone sees everything and anything. Any one person or entity can make a post and get 2 replies, and the next day make a post that gets 7,000 replies, depending on who replied and then who saw what. That's why for someone popular, someone famous, controversial type figure, most political figures - with each post they share, the replies and comments will be littered with replies from all sides and a free for all chaos can ensue. But at the same time, if a political person, they have to open their stuff for everyone.

There's a little of something for anyone everywhere. Other than a place for just my friends and semi-privacy, I choose FB for now. It's where all my friends and family are at. I keep my info and what I post to a minimum as I know it could end up exposed. And if anything needs privacy, I then message in private to those folks. So I use it for what I can gain out of it. And Twitter, I share absolutely nothing on there, but I use it as an outlet to read from folks like Trump and other politicians, and also to communicate directly, as in responding to the twitnits like AOC and Pelosi....

And Parler came about from Conservatives. I don't know about any future with a "friends" thing on there. But right now I love that conservative politicians and news agencies and others are joining, and that I can find their posts easily without having to search because it was purposely buried, or that it disappeared or was otherwise censored somehow.

I use them for what they are worth, and what they do, and how much they expose you.

They are trying to keep liberal trolls from joining just to ruin it for conservatives, and I’m glad. If they don’t, I’m gone. I can go almost literally everywhere to read trolls.

I have no idea how to navigate it, so "joined" is probably as good as it gets with me :)

I don’t either, yet.

They should have simply started and advertised properly - a new social media with conservatives in mind but all welcome. News and your opinions will not be censored here like other social media, and also unlike them, we expect a little class and adult discussion, and less trolling and purposely trying to start trouble or instigate problems. The idea is to present direct and unfettered access to politicians and news agencies without the censorship.

They and others just went to the advertising it as censor free without much explanation. So now, a liberal shows up with porn photos and imitating large news agencies and FU after FU after FU to disrupt discussions. They rightly remove them - and take a beating for being "the same" as others. A stated objective like above would have avoided that.

At any rate, I'm loving it! I look at it like this - FB, for now, is for me to see and communicate with friends and family. Private or public. I simply avoid politics now. Then I have Parler, for politics and news without interruption.

Give it time. I thought it was quite easy to navigate and getting easier as I learn a little. And it expands as you add more. But may look rather bland, unfilled, until you do add people and agencies.

There are actions behind the scenes trying to get Trump to join as well. He knows where the majority are right now, makes sense. Hopefully he would at least look into a new way to appeal to voters, but time will tell. I think it's too close to election time for him to bail the others just yet. With the amount of followers and reach he has elsewhere, he can't just walk away from those numbers yet.
