Sending in our police officers - anywhere - and leaving them so overpowered, is unacceptable, IMO. Look at Chicago, and how much the numbers are up in a single year. And with statistics so high, and they ask for help directly, they should get it. This shouldn't become a Benghazi on US soil, no matter which state.
Some of these states allow chaos to rule the streets, lie about it and refuse to let Trump help, no doubt for fear it may help him somehow. Over and over we've seen it.
I also have no doubt that all of the protesting, then looting and rioting and destruction, taking over of some streets, followed by mayors and governors talking about how great they are - and to have their police back off - that in the end this all accounts for a large portion of any violent upticks.

Chicago FOP president writes letter to Trump, asks for federal help to combat violence
CHICAGO — The president of Chicago’s Fraternal Order of Police wrote a letter to President Donald Trump this weekend, asking for federal help dealing with the city’s violence epidemic.
In the letter John Catanzara called Mayor Lori Lightfoot a complete failure, who is not able to maintain law and order.
Catanzara offered to sit down with Trump anytime to come up with ideas for “how to bring civility back to the streets of Chicago.”

Chicago alderman says city 'too afraid' to ask Trump for help to stop violence
A Chicago alderman suggested Democrats are “too afraid” to ask President Trump for help to address rampant violent crime.
Alderman Anthony Napolitano, a former police officer, joined Fox & Friends Monday morning and said the city is desperate for assistance after Chicago officials reported at least 63 shootings and 12 deaths over the weekend.
“People are too afraid right now to ask the president for help because if it does work, they’re going to make the president look like a success. And it’s a political move,” Napolitano said.
“We are dealing with crime at biblical proportions right now in Chicago,” he added.
Chicago police have reported a spike in murders and shootings this year compared to 2019. Shootings increased by 71% in May compared to the year before, when 409 people were shot. Murders were up 60%, with 85 reported.
“We’re putting our men and women, our police officers out there, there is a justice movement going on right now where we had a statue in Grant Park — they tried to tear it down. We had 30 officers protecting against about 1,000 protesters. It looked like a scene out of 300,” Napolitano said. "We need help."
The president of Chicago's Fraternal Order of Police posted a letter to Trump over the weekend asking for help and slamming Chicago leadership, including Mayor Lori Lightfoot. "Mayor Lightfoot has proved to be a complete failure who is either unwilling or unable to maintain law and order here," John Catanzara said in the letter, posted to the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7's Facebook page.
"I would be willing to sit down anytime and discuss ideas about how we can bring civility back to the streets of Chicago," the letter continued. "These politicians are failing the good men and women of this city and the police department."
Trump has repeatedly denounced the crime in Chicago and in other cities reporting similar crime, saying last week that it’s “worse than Afghanistan.”
“When you have 88 shootings, that’s not even conceivable, that’s worse than Afghanistan. I hate to say it. That’s worse than any war zone that we’re in by a lot,” Trump said.
Lightfoot has repeatedly blamed the murders and gun violence in her city over the past year on loose federal gun laws, suggesting residents are going to nearby red states to buy illegal firearms and coming back and committing crimes in the city.

Trump Readies Federal Response to Homicide-Ridden Chicago
Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), part of United States Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is planning a mission for 150 federal agents to assist other federal law enforcement efforts in Chicago, where homicide rates have soared.
“So far in 2020, Chicago has experienced one of its most violent years in recent memory, especially since late May with the fallout over the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minnesota,” the Chicago Tribune reported near the end of its article on the development.
“Through July 12, homicides in Chicago were up 48 percent with 385, compared to 260 at the same time last year, official CPD statistics show,” the Tribune reported. “Shootings were also up by 46 percent.
“During a 28-day period through July 12, 116 people were slain in Chicago, the statistics show,” the Tribune reported. “That’s up from 41 during the same period in 2019.”
The Tribune reported that an unnamed city official said they had heard about the plan but knew no specifics, and the Chicago Police Department did not comment for the report.
The Tribune reported on Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s remarks at an unrelated press conference.
“We don’t need federal agents without any insignia taking people off the streets and holding them, I think, unlawfully,” Lightfoot said.
“[The] left-wing group of people that are running our cities are not doing the job that they’re supposed to be doing, and it’s not a very tough job to do if they knew what they were doing,” Trump told reporters.

Without offering specifics, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told Fox News over the weekend that Trump, Attorney General William Barr and acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf would roll out a plan this week about tamping down on crime in various U.S. cities.
“Some of the unrest that we saw, even in the last month or so, but particularly last night and in the week leading up to it in Portland, is just not acceptable when you look at communities not being safe and not upholding the rule of law,” Meadows said. “So, Attorney General Barr is weighing in on that with (DHS) Secretary Wolf, and you’ll see something rolled out this week as we start to go in and make sure that the communities – whether it’s Chicago, or Portland, or Milwaukee, or some place across the heartland of the country – we need to make sure their communities are safe.”
