Finally watching this. I’ve probably seen all the other Vietnam movies.

If you’ve seen it, thoughts?

The producer of Godfather movies...Copula did a good job showing Americans a lot of both Truth, and just B.S. since it was...after all, a strange genre about war nobody dared talk about.

Must see it several times to get the full meanings...pro and con. A lot of what was shown was exagerated. Though I had friends, and one cousin who wouldn't talk about it...other than how they counted their days before going BACK TO THE WORLD...as they called Home.

As an aside: I knew six of the names on that Wall in D.C. Nuff said?

Thank you. Having a brother who served in Vietnam, it’s all very real and emotional for me too. I’d LOVE to know which parts were exaggerated. I did suspect as much with the Robert Duvall surfing stuff at least. ,

The really weird stuff about Brando and his obvious mental character...and as for the surfing, I know that did happen but Duvall's crazy antics???? Don't have an answer for that one.

The idea of the music being played from the Huey Helocopters..???? "Ride of the Valkyries" no way I can tell you honestly. The swiftboat scenes...pretty close to real, and as dangerous.

Sorry I can't tell you more. Most Nam vets won't share many of the things they saw in person, which explains the "PTSD" many of them still feel today. It was a bad time for all of us in uniform. Even though I was on a ship...the worst will probably never really be known.
