The protesting in Portland started in May. The brought violence, looting & fires from the very beginning. The violence was there LONG before any federal agents were sent in to try and restore law and order. And that violence continues long after they left.

Democrats Blamed The Feds For Violence In Portland. But The Chaos Continued Even After They Pulled Back

Portland, Oregon emerged as an epicenter of the ongoing nationwide protests and riots following the death of George Floyd while in Minneapolis police custody earlier this year.

The majority of protests since Floyd’s death in late May have been nonviolent and lawful assembly is a constitutional right. But the violence in Portland escalated tensions between rioters and federal law enforcement deployed by President Donald Trump.

An important rallying cry among demonstrators and politicians was that federal agents were responsible for the violence. Trump ordered federal forces to pull back in late July, but nearly one month later a lack of federal law enforcement has not stopped the chaos in Portland.

Protests occurred Thursday night at a police union building and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) building, marking 85 consecutive days of demonstrations in Portland, according to The Oregonian.

The Portland Police Department initially declared a riot in late July after crowds marched to the Mark O. Hatfield federal courthouse, USA Today reported.

Democrats blamed Trump’s decision to send federal forces to Portland as the reason for an increase in violence.

“The consequences of Donald Trump unilaterally dispatching [federal] law enforcement into U.S. cities played out in Portland [with a] peaceful protester shot in the head,” said Democratic Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden in a tweet July 12. “Trump & Homeland Security must now answer why [federal] officers are acting like an occupying army.”

“I’m concerned that the actions of federal officers escalated, rather than de-escalated, already heightened tensions in our city,” said Democratic Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler in a statement that same day.

“The events of last night at the federal courthouse were the tragic and avoidable result of President Donald Trump, for weeks, continuing to push for force and violence in response to protests,” said Democratic Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, according to The Oregonian.

Portland Commissioners Chloe Eudaly and Jo Ann Hardesty also blamed federal forces for “reckless and inexcusable behavior,” The Washington Post reported.

Looks like the "peace" started in Portland somewhere at the end of May?

Portland becomes first city to declare protest over George Floyd's death a "riot"

What started as a peaceful vigil to honor the memory of George Floyd in Portland, Oregon, turned into what the Portland Police Bureau is identifying as "a riot." The incidents lasted roughly five hours, during which police said people also took part in arson and looting.

At 9:50 p.m. on Friday, a protester shot at the occupants of a vehicle that was surrounded by a group of protesters, according to Portland Police. A passenger who was shot was treated for a non-life threatening injury at a nearby hospital and later released.

A little over an hour later, several hundred protesters arrived at the Justice Center in downtown Portland, which houses a precinct and the sheriff's office. There, they spray painted the building, broke windows and started a fire on the first floor, according to police. Officers responded to the incident and the fire was extinguished.

"An unlawful assembly was declared and protesters were admonished to leave the area or force would be used against them. Protesters continued to vandalize inside and outside the Justice Center," police said. "Riot Control Agents were deployed and the protesters dispersed from the Justice Center, but remained downtown."

...

Once dispersed, police say that protesters walked to Pioneer Place Mall, where they broke windows, looted stores, and vandalized the property. When officers arrived, protesters used electric scooters to smash out the windows of police cars, the bureau says. No officer was harmed at the particular incident.

Rioters also started several fires throughout the city, including vehicles and a "large pile of pallets" in an intersection.

And then the Federal agents went in and created violence, about 20 months later at the end of July?

US Attorney General defends deploying federal agents to Portland

US Attorney General William Barr has defended the deployment of federal agents to cities, saying they are needed to counter violent rioters.

In heated testimony to Congress, Mr Barr said protesters in Portland, Oregon, are committing "an assault on the government of the United States".

The Democrat-led hearing covered a wide range of controversial actions from Mr Barr's Department of Justice (DOJ).

This was Mr Barr's first committee testimony in his 17 months on the job.

Portland has been the scene of 61 consecutive nights of protests, sometimes violent, triggered by the killing of an unarmed black man, George Floyd, by police in May.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler was among the Democrats to accuse the DOJ of sending agents to an ongoing protest at a federal courthouse in Portland - as well other cities in an action dubbed "Operation Legend" by the White House - to aid Mr Trump's 2020 re-election campaign.

Several mayors of major US cities have told the federal government to immediately withdraw from the targeted cities.

The Feds would not have been there had there been no violence and looting first. The Dems are going full-tilt on supporting this fascist BS. I wonder how dumb one has to be to not understand that the only thing fascism, Marxism, whatever you want to call it, gets rid of is the middle class.
