I dont know about that. I mean if you are afraid of a pack of hungry cheetuhs, i think having a car that can outrun them would be pretty darn good protection.

heck its probably a good protection from those killer slugs too.

There are people who can enjoy it "with" you April. It is not a self world, it is a world where you can come from poor, like Manu, and then work your ass off to eventually be able to afford his car. I believe that Manu will actually take people out in his car, to enjoy what he earned.

Ever made a meal to make someone happy? Ever done anything to make someone happy?

If a vehicle is as you say, NOTHING more than a "mode" of transportation, then why don't you use a horse? Or better yet, walk everwhere?

If you buy a car, explain to us what car you would not buy.

I have quit doing things to make people happy. If they aren't happy on their own to bad!
I wouldn't buy a car. I only buy trucks. I don't own a horse as the city will not allow livestock. I would walk everywhere but my body will not do that kind of activity anymore.

Well, to be fair, I have seen toll roads in New England that have signs prohibiting horses to be ridden or driven on them. :)

I already enjoy HIS car. I'll likely never see it in real life, but I'll draw a measure of satisfaction knowing a good guy has a car like that.

Worst part is - that car would smoke my car in nearly every category - AND gets better fuel economy :( (sigh).

Hey ManU - Maybe I'll bring the family down for a few days - you and I can hit ThunderHill raceway...your car OR mine :)

Very nice choice manu, especially the Targa, what an incredible design. I never liked the old Targas because they destroyed the sexiest roofline ever, the classic 911's. Yours maintains the roofline and yet is a convertible!!! It is what you expect from the Porsche design team....... I just picked up one of their lighters for use with my cigars and pipes, beautiful design that is incredibly functional. What will really be fun is driving in the rain with that glass roof, that should be pretty cool.

You do realize that once you are bitten by the Porsche bug, you will always need to go back. It's kind of like the desert, once you have lived in the Southwest desert, your heart will always be there and it will always call you back. Being a designer, I know you will have a lot of fun discovering all of the fine details Porsche puts into their works of automotive art....... what is the color going to be? Personalized plate?

It's really none of your business how he can afford that.... perhaps cause he's not a self-entitlement liberal and actually got off his ass, executed a good business with his wife and made the money rather than having it handed to him...

If that's truely your dream Hag, then I'd suggest you start a good business - rarely can anyone who works a "job" (i.e. corporate America) can afford a car like that and by 'afford' I'm talking either buying it cash or making the payments if you take out a loan. Even if one could afford the payment, there's the rediculous cost of maintenance, gas, insurance, tires etc. etc..

Couple points of order...

I think most folk who made, say, $100k a year, could afford a 125K car...depending on their financial history. Gas? Cheaper on gas than my $30K (when new) car. Tires? Pretty spendy - but any GOOD tire at 18" or bigger, is a couple bills. Maintenance? That's tricky. Few grand for a clutch, easy. :(

Insurance? Funny thing about insurance. A 2005 Corvette is $2/month CHEAPER to insure than my 2004 Mazda. Weird, eh?

:D

fwiw - 125k + tax, fees: ~138k...minus, say, 15K down = $1,884.69/month. For 84 months. Yeowch! :)

Assuming the person who makes that 100k pays around 30% in taxes, they do not make 100k - more like 70k....

That is $5833 / mo....

If someone spends THAT much money on a car at that income level - IMO - they have HUGE issues....

$1800/month for car....leaves $4000 for everything else. Very do-able.
