First, the title of your thread is wrong. It should read: So if the Dems defeat Bush in '08...

I am not convinced that their win is a foregone conclusion. Likely, yes, but not a sure thing.

Second, if you listen to all the Dems and Bush haters, a Democrat win in the next election will make the skies blue, the sun shine, and the birds sing. All will be right in the world so there really is no need for your questions. We will be living in an Utopian society, they have all the answers.

That being said, I will indulge you...

pull out of iraq? No
invade darfur? No
invade afganistan? No
close all foreign military bases? No

negotiate with iran an nk? Possibly
cut ties with israel? No

and then let all the illegals run round
and give millions in foreign aid

I want to have my cake and eat it too. With the bazillions we've already spent in Iraq, we could've provided paid-for healthcare for us, Canada and all of South America. Ever heard of re-funneling money? We have the largest defense budget of any nation in the history of the planet. As you can see, it's not being spent wisely. That money can pay for other things. All it'll take is a little accountability and some decent management in government--a pipe dream I know.

Don't be ugly just for ugliness' sake.

create jobs? of course....just like we did for eight years under Bill

...which was no better than GWB's - considering Clinton's technology bubble-collapse, vs. Bush dealing with the Worst Attack on this nation...ever.

(shrug)...

What kept Clinton's unemployment numbers reasonable? The Republican Congress. :)

that is simply incorrect. Go to the BLS website and look at job creation numbers during the Clinton administration. He averaged month in and month out as much as Bush has been able to produce only two or three times.

and that is hilarious that you would try to give the credit for the Clinton years to the republican congress. Greenspan sure thought differently, didn't he?

I can hear the howling if I were to say that the only reason Ronnie Raygun had a booming economy was because of the democratic congress! LOL

Just to clarify the Washington Examiner piece about the unemployment numbers during the Bush and Clinton adminstrations. The White House was quoted comparing the unemployment rates at similar points of expansion. The Clinton Adminstration did have lower unemployment rates than the current low of 4.4% for the Bush Administration as this data shows from the BLS (http://data.bls.gov/PDQ/servlet/SurveyOutputServlet?data_tool=latest_numbers&series_id=LNS14000000).

That said, the current economy is strong despite a cataclysmic terrorist attack, a devastating hurricane, high gas prices and incessant, negative reporting. As I'm sure you can imagine, chronic negative reporting does affect the public's opinion even when the facts belie the media's and politicians' misrepresentations.

The media and naysayers will always try to find something negative to focus on like the increase in wages last year, which they complained didn't exist until long after the labor numbers supported the trend, and which are now channeled into inflation worries.

talking "job creation" and talking "unemployment" are not really the same thing, though..... I thought you knew that.

this isn't the exact table I was looking for, but it pretty much tells the story:

Bush is not running for office. He may be running from the law though when his term ends. Whomever takes office will have a big mess to clean up. Be they dem or repub. This nation has been run over and thrashed like a bull in a china shop by this administration. Like RR's administration only worse for this time we may not recover.

yep. BLS has unemployment data...and it has employment data.

what is your point? there are not directly inversely proportional.

Here is another table...it doesn't show the first Clinton term, but it covers the second and compares it to the Bush years fairly well.

So what exactly is the next administration going to have to fix? What exactly has Bush done to make the country worse?

I think that whoever is in office next is going to have to do something about:

-The medicare Pill Bill and it being on the road to bankrupt us as a country

-Stop the Spending and Borrowing from China.

-Shore up Social Security, baby boomers are less than a couple of years away from recieving retirement.

-Reform Fisa and Patriot Act with full oversight from the intelligence committee.

-Figure out something to bring Health Care costs down.

-Focus on becoming less oil dependent.

And those are just a few of the domoestic issues that need to be addressed.

I agree that a number of those things need to be addressed. But what has the President done to cause these things?

Last time I checked He has or has tried to do a number of those things with staunch opposition. We would have had social security fixed years ago if it hadnt been completely attacked. He has been revising FISA and the Patriot Act and the Intelligence committee. He has been trying to make us less dependent on oil.

Maybe if Democrats stop opposing him on every single issues we'd have these things done already.

Now like I said, what has he done? If we are talking about what he hasnt done than thats easy. Illegal immigration. But we are talking about what he has done to make this nations worse off not what he hasnt done.

I predict Bush will be defeated in 08 by a small margin. The dems on the other hand will be defeated by the GOP.

To add to the humiliation Bush will again be defeated in 2012. Shortly after that the dems will realize he's no longer running.
