DOJ Probe Of Hunter Biden Is More Extensive Than He Let On, And Could Involve Chinese Business Deals

When Hunter Biden revealed on Wednesday that he is the target of a federal investigation into his ‘tax affairs,’ he may have left out details of the full extent of the probe.
Federal prosecutors are also reportedly scrutinizing Biden’s foreign business dealings, especially with a Chinese energy company called CEFC.
CEFC wired millions of dollars in payments to Biden in 2017 and 2018.
A Senate report released in September said that some of the wire payments were flagged for potential criminal activity.

The investigation into Hunter Biden is more extensive than indicated in a statement he issued this week, according to multiple reports that say that federal prosecutors are scrutinizing Biden’s foreign business deals, including with one of China’s largest energy companies.

One area of focus is Biden’s financial relationship with CEFC China Energy, a major energy holding company whose chairman is believed to have ties to the communist party.

Emails, text messages and financial documents show that CEFC wired $6 million to bank accounts and firms controlled by Biden in 2017 and 2018.

Some of the transactions were flagged for possible criminal activity, according to a report that Senate Republicans released in September. A $3.5 million wire transfer from a Russian billionaire to a firm linked to Biden in February 2014 was also flagged by bank regulators for suspicious activity, the report said.

Biden released a statement on Wednesday through his father’s presidential transition team saying that the U.S. Attorney’s in Delaware had contacted his legal team to say his “tax affairs” were under investigation.

A source familiar with the probe told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the investigation started in 2018, months before Joe Biden launched his presidential campaign. Attorney General William Barr learned of the investigation earlier this year (https://dailycaller.com/2020/12/11/william-barr-hunter-biden-investigation/) but kept it from spilling into public view because of the sensitivity of the election.

The source said that the fact that prosecutors have reached out to Biden suggests that the investigation has moved into an “overt” stage.

Politico (https://www.politico.com/news/2020/12/09/justice-department-interest-hunter-biden-taxes-444139) and CNN (https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/09/politics/hunter-biden-tax-investigtation/index.html) reported that prosecutors are also looking beyond tax crimes into possible money laundering activity and Biden’s other foreign business deals.

There were some indications before the election that the FBI was focusing on potential money laundering. Fox News reported that federal prosecutors issued a subpoena for Biden’s laptop in December 2019, with notations that suggested a money-laundering probe was underway.

Fox News reported on Wednesday (https://www.foxnews.com/politics/hunter-biden-tax-affairs-under-federal-investigation) that the investigation is based in part on Suspicious Activity Reports filed with the Treasury Department regarding Biden’s financial activities. The Senate report regarding Biden’s business deals also relied on SARs, a source familiar with the matter has told the DCNF.

Sinclair Broadcasting reported in October that the Justice Department (https://abc3340.com/news/nation-world/tony-bobulinksi-i-have-now-put-myself-in-huge-risk-for-the-sake-of-the-american-people) had opened an investigation into Biden and his associates.

Biden has also come under scrutiny over his position as a director for Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company whose owner has been the target of bribery investigations in the U.K.

The Senate report showed that Biden’s relationship with CEFC was far more lucrative for him than previously known.

The report said that an affiliate of CEFC wired $5 million on Aug. 8, 2017, to a bank account for Hudson West III, a shell company that had Biden as a co-owner.

Starting that same day and through Sept. 25, 2018, Hudson West III wired $4.8 million to Biden’s law firm, Owasco LLC.

CEFC also paid Biden $1 million to represent Patrick Ho, a CEFC executive who was charged in September 2017 under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for bribing African government officials.

Prosecutors revealed during that case that the FBI obtained a warrant under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) against Ho (https://dailycaller.com/2020/10/27/hunter-biden-patrick-ho-cefc-fara/) based on suspicions that he was working as a covert foreign agent.

Ho was convicted on the charges and served 30 months in prison. It is not entirely clear what work Biden did for the $5 million in payments from CEFC.

He first began discussing forming a partnership that involved CEFC in early 2017. Biden and a group of businessmen began in early 2017 exploring an investment deal with CEFC.

The would-be partnership involved Tony Bobulinksi, a California-based businessman who has since released a trove of records detailing the effort to strike a deal with CEFC.

The partners formed a company called SinoHawk with an initial plan to obtain $10 million in seed money from CEFC to pursue investments in the U.S. and other countries.

According to one document, CEFC provided a $5 million interest-free loan to the Bidens.

“This $5 MM loan to BD family is interest-free. But if the $5 MM is used up, should CEFC keep lending more to the family? If CEFC lends more, they need to know the interest rate for the subsequent loan(s),” the company wrote to Bobulinski on Aug. 1, 2017.

Hunter Biden appeared to acknowledge in a text message to Bobulinski that the partnership with CEFC could potentially run afoul of U.S. laws regarding business dealings with foreign entities.

So CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC and the entire left out there that denied, laughed at, censored, blocked, ignored, omitted - they were all wrong.

Is this a surprise to anyone that the investigation was there the whole time & legit?

Barr Kept Quiet About 2 Hunter Biden Probes for Months

Attorney General Bill Barr reportedly hid two federal probes involving Hunter Biden for months.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Barr has known about the probes since at least the spring and worked to avoid their public disclosure during the election campaign.

The newspaper attributed its report on Thursday to a person familiar with the matter.

Barr’s decision to keep the lid on the probes came even as Republicans and President Donald Trump pressed him for months to pursue Joe Biden’s son.

But the Journal pointed out Justice Department guidelines caution investigators from taking any overt actions as an election nears so they are not seen as trying to influence the outcome.

On Thursday night, Trump blasted the FBI and the Department of Justice over the news that Hunter Biden is under federal investigation. He demanded to know why the probe wasn't announced before the November election.

According to The New York Times, the U.S. attorney's office in Delaware opened one investigation against Hunter Biden in late 2018, before his father became a presidential candidate. It includes inquiries into potential violations of money laundering and tax laws. Sources close to the investigation said the money laundering part of the case did not gain traction.

And the Journal reported that federal prosecutors in Manhattan had also been looking into Hunter Biden’s business and financial dealings. While Hunter Biden is implicated in that probe, he was never a target for criminal prosecution, the Journal reported.

Who can blame him here? Would this kind of news be held back in the manner it was - if this was the reverse and harmful to Trump? And little too late, but also can't blame him knowing the lengths that were taken to block and censor this story.

Trump Blasts FBI, DOJ Over Hunter Biden Investigation

President Donald Trump is blasting the FBI and the Department of Justice, along with the media, over the news that Joe Biden's son Hunter is under federal investigation, demanding to know why the probe wasn't announced before the November election.

"Why didn’t the Fake News Media, the FBI and the DOJ report the Biden matter BEFORE the Election?" the president said on Twitter Thursday night. "Oh well, it’s OK, we won the Election anyway - 75,000,000 VOTES!!!"

Trump followed up on Friday, tweeting that Attorney General William Barr "perhaps knew of the corruption during the impeachment hoax" and that the basis of the impeachment proceedings, his phone call to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, has been called "perfect" by "many, including me."

He also claimed, in another tweet, that the "Biden Administration will be a scandal plagued mess for years to come" and that it will be "much easier for the Supreme Court of the United States to follow the Constitution and do what everybody knows has to be done. They must show great Courage & Wisdom. Save the USA!!!"

His latter tweet referred to a lawsuit Texas is seeking to file with the court against the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia in hopes of overturning the election results. Several GOP lawmakers have signaled their support of the lawsuit, as have 17 other states.

According to The New York Times, the U.S. attorney's office in Delaware opened the investigation against Hunter Biden in late 2018, before his father became a presidential candidate. It includes inquiries into potential violations of money laundering and tax laws. Sources close to the investigation said the money laundering part of the case did not gain traction.

Another person speaking on condition of anonymity said federal investigators served several subpoenas Tuesday, including for Hunter Biden, centering on his business affairs. Another source said investigators didn't go after him until after the election because of a DOJ policy prohibiting overt investigative acts coming close to elections.

The New York Post reported extensively on Hunter Biden's alleged activities in the weeks leading up to the election.

Hunter Biden released a statement through his father's transition office saying he learned about the probe Tuesday and that he's taking the matter "very seriously."

You Have to See This NBC Hunter Biden Subheadline to Believe It. It's Real and It's Really That Awful.

The media has finally acknowledged that Hunter Biden, son of Joe Biden, is under investigation.

Before the election, the media dismissed such reports as “unfounded” and even “Russian disinformation.”

But never Chinese disinformation, despite (or because of?) the fact that China and not Russia pays U.S. media outlets millions of dollars to print its propaganda.

Anyway.

NBC has stirred itself to write about Hunter Biden’s investigation. Here’s its hot take.

https://i.imgur.com/wCXt9gG.png

How can claims that have now been verified still be “unfounded” and “baseless,” NBC?

They are now, and were at the time, founded and chock-full of base. Not baseless. Hunter Biden himself, in NBC’s own headline, verifies it.

If an investigation is warranted, I am all in favor of it. Of everyone who needs to be investigated. If Hunter Biden is guilty, he should be punished. Same goes for Ivanka and Donald Trump, who have not managed to elude suspicion. ---- https://www.vox.com/21527215/hunter-biden-jared-ivanka-eric-don-junior --- Ivanka is not just someone who lacks the résumé for such a position; she has an extremely checkered career in business that’s involved extensive excursions into legal gray areas: Donald Trump’s tax returns, as leaked to the New York Times, suggest that he may be illegally disguising gifts to Ivanka as consulting payments to avoid estate taxes, something Donald’s father did but that we didn’t learn about until the statute of limitations had expired. Ivanka was involved at a very high level in a Panamanian real estate development scheme where her key partner was a money launderer for various organized crime figures (oops). She was also the most senior official from the Trump Organization involved in a real estate development project in Azerbaijan that appears to have been a money-laundering scheme for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (double oops). Last but by no means least, back in 2012, Ivanka was nearly indicted by the Manhattan district attorney for fraud, but the inquiry was quashed by the DA himself after a timely $25,000 campaign contribution from the Trump family attorney Marc Kasowitz.

With respect, Gabby, you have a habit of going backwards and saying "well so and so did it" type of stuff. And perhaps such things may have validity or worthy of discussion - but when the thread is about Hunter Biden and extensive investigations about him and multiple countries and connections with many others up to and including the VP aka his father - that it should respectfully stay that way.

It's not to avoid anything, it's just that if someone wants to discuss a subject, they should start a thread and post something and give an opening statement. Not by tossing things out in response to other topics of discussion.

Right off that bat in your response, it's a short mention of this discussion and then the rest is about Trump. Nothing wrong with that, but best for another thread and seeing you put the time and energy in replying the same about the topic at hand.

So, Hunter Biden's Laptop Was Real After All, Huh?

Hey, did you ever find out about a particular thing that was absolutely, undisputedly, 100% true? Like, no doubt at all? You had ironclad proof and everything? And after you found out about it, did you then run into somebody else who simply refused to believe it, no matter the evidence? Sure, we all know somebody like that. In 2020, it’s practically a hobby. But that’s not a good thing when the person who refuses to acknowledge facts and evidence is supposed to be a journalist.

For instance, take Hunter Biden’s laptop. Please! Take it, because CNN and the NYT and the rest of those frauds didn’t want to hear about it before the election. They refused to cover the story, and when they finally had to, they dismissed it.

The New York Post broke the story on Oct. 14, and our moral, ethical, and intellectual betters panicked. They knew the story was trouble for Joe Biden, so they straight-up lied about it.

https://i.imgur.com/SggtJ3g.png

https://i.imgur.com/CYiaVNc.png

https://i.imgur.com/yw7790u.png

According to them, the information was both “hacked” and also, somehow, “Russian disinformation.” When in truth, it was neither. Hunter Biden, an admitted drug abuser, abandoned one of his laptops at a repair shop less than five miles from his father’s home. The laptop is real. The information on it is real. The trouble Hunter finds himself in is real.

The NY Post‘s story was censored on Twitter, and the outlet’s Twitter account was suspended. A lot of other Twitter users (including yours truly) were suspended for talking about the story. And now the Delaware computer repairman who stepped forward with hard evidence of Hunter Biden’s misdeeds has been driven into hiding.

Can you guess what happened next?

Daily Beast:

The Seeds of Hunter Biden’s Current Legal Woes Were Found on His Laptop

The Justice Department’s announcement on Wednesday that it was investigating Hunter Biden, for what he deemed to be “tax affairs,” took root several years ago with a much broader inquiry that included possible money laundering…

Hunter Biden’s business dealings were always a ripe target for President Donald Trump and his allies. But they became the primary focus of their attacks after the president’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani, claimed in the election’s closing weeks to have obtained a copy of the younger Biden’s laptop from a computer repairman in Delaware named John Paul MacIsaac.

Oh. So we were right all along. How about that?

Sorry to quote myself, but I really nailed this one on Oct. 22:

This isn’t about an election, or at least it isn’t for me. It isn’t about who you think should be president for the next four years (or as long as Joe holds up). It’s about national media outlets blatantly refusing to tell you the truth because they think they know who should be president. They don’t think you can make that decision for yourself.

Well, they did it. They swept the story under the rug because they knew it was bad for the guy who wanted to replace Trump, and they didn’t care about anything but replacing Trump. They weren’t worried about integrity, reputation, professionalism, or anything else that might have kept them from lying.

After all, who’s gonna stop ’em? You? Me? They don’t care about us. All journalists care about is giving each other awards and basking in the praise of their bosses in the Democratic Party.

Now they’re doing the same thing with Eric Swalwell. He’s embroiled in a huge scandal, and they’re just pretending it isn’t happening. After all, he has a (D) after his name and they’re team players.

I don’t believe the Democrats stole the election. But via their enablers in NYC and Silicon Valley, they covered up the truth about the Biden family to sway the outcome of the election.

If you didn’t trust them before Election Day, all they’ve done is prove you right. And now they’ll hate you even more for it.

Hunter Biden Email: Joe Biden, Chinese Business Partner Are ‘Office Mates’

An email reportedly from the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop called his father, former Vice President Joe Biden, and a Chinese business partner “new office mates.”

The email, reported by the Daily Caller News Foundation, was sent on September 21, 2017, by Hunter Biden to Cecilia Browning, the manager of the “House of Sweden” office building:

https://i.imgur.com/eljJHAh.png

“Please have keys made available for new office mates,” Hunter Biden wrote, and listed several individuals:

Joe Biden
Jill Biden
Jim Biden, Joe Biden’s brother
Gongwen Dong (Chairman Ye CEFC emissary), referring to the Chinese oil company. Ye is Ye Jianming, the founder of CEFC China Energy Company Limited.
Hunter Biden indicated he wanted the signage to reflect the link between the Biden Foundation and “Hudson West,” which was affiliated with the Chinese communist energy entity.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported:

Hunter Biden’s dealings with CEFC in 2017 were at the center of allegations from his ex-business partner, Tony Bobulinksi, who said in October that Joe Biden was “plainly familiar” with his family’s business dealings in China. Bobulinski was one of the recipients of the much-publicized May 2017 email purportedly referencing Joe Biden as the “big guy” who would hold 10% in a joint-venture deal with Hunter Biden and CEFC.

Most people will never skate against the IRS, not even Capone. But this is no ordinary person, this is Biden's son. And the evidence thus far fills an entire filing cabinet.

Hunter Biden Did Not Disclose $400,000 from Burisma on 2014 Taxes

A 2017 email published by NBC News revealed Hunter Biden reportedly did not disclose $400,000 in income from Ukrainian energy firm Burisma in 2014 and was advised to do so.

Via NBC News: (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/email-hunter-biden-raises-fresh-questions-about-his-tax-dealings-n1250973)

Hunter Biden’s former business partner sent him an email in 2017 saying he did not disclose on his tax returns $400,000 in income from the Ukrainian natural gas company where he sat on the board, according to a copy of the email obtained by NBC News.

The message from Eric Schwerin, then president of Rosemont Seneca Partners, says Hunter Biden would need to “amend” his 2014 returns to reflect the “unreported” income, according to the copy of the email.

"In 2014 you joined the Burisma board and we still need to amend your 2014 returns to reflect the unreported Burisma income,” the email, dated January 16, 2017, said.

NBC News reported the email “raises fresh questions about his tax dealings.”

Hunter Biden is the subject of a federal investigation into his taxes, Breitbart News said this week.

The Biden-Harris “transition” published a statement on Hunter’s behalf: (obvious that he's getting assistance from the White House, and will likely get away with it as a result)

https://i.imgur.com/oriVhGK.png

“I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs,” Hunter Biden said.

“I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.”

The Biden-Harris Transition said Biden is “deeply proud of his son.”

How the media covered up the Hunter Biden story — until after the election

It’s now clear that the Hunter Biden story was real, with Hunter himself acknowledging a federal probe into his taxes — one that reportedly began in 2018. Really, it was always clear. Yet when the New York Post broke the details, virtually the entire journalistic establishment and left-wing punditsphere defamed the newspaper, claiming it was passing on Russian “disinformation” or partisan fabrications.

The political media quickly began pumping out process stories about the alleged discord in The Post’s newsroom and about the problems with the reporting. In so doing, of course, they did practically no reporting on the substantive allegations that Joe Biden’s family had spent years cashing in on his influence.

Tech companies, spurred on by these censorious journalists, shut down the account of one of America’s most-read newspapers to inhibit users from reading the story. It was completely unprecedented.

At the time, I argued that The Post used the same ethical and journalistic standards that the media have employed for decades. But, in truth, it exercised a higher standard of professionalism than most outlets reporting on the Russia collusion hysteria did for three-plus years. It certainly exhibited a higher ethical standard than Jeffrey Goldberg did in his Atlantic piece claiming that Donald Trump had besmirched the American military — which political journalists had no problem sharing as irrefutable and unimpeachable fact.

In October, the New York Times ran a piece headlined, “New York Post Published Hunter Biden Report Amid Newsroom Doubts.” Today, the same Times reports, “Biden team has rejected some of the claims made in the Post articles, but has not disputed the authenticity of the files upon which they were based.”

The crux of the case against disseminating The Post’s story was that the emails found on Hunter’s laptop may not be real and that there was no way to authenticate them. Apparently, that wasn’t true. All reporters had to do, it seems, was ask.

In October, left-wing sites such as the Daily Beast were featuring headlines that read, “Russian State Media Is Desperately Trying to Keep the Hunter Biden Story Alive” and “FBI Examining Hunter’s Laptop As Foreign Op, Contradicting Trump’s Intel Czar.” Today we learn from the same outlet that “evidence of [a money laundering] probe [into Hunter Biden] was apparent in the markings on a series of documents that were made public — but went largely unnoticed — in the days leading up to the November election.”

Indeed.

Yesterday, NBC News reported, “Hunter Biden, president-elect’s son, says federal prosecutors probing his taxes.” But in October, NBC News had “reporters” Ben Collins and Brandy Zadrozny producing serious-sounding articles such as, “How a fake persona laid the groundwork for a Hunter Biden conspiracy deluge” and “Inside the campaign to ‘pizzagate’ Hunter Biden” to undercut The Post’s reporting.

Ken Dilanian, a leading voice in the debunked Russian collusion coverage, had a mid-October headline that read, “Feds examining whether alleged Hunter Biden emails are linked to a foreign intel operation.”

It’s peculiar that reporters could so easily confirm alleged counterintelligence investigations but not one into the family of the front-running presidential candidate.

Then again, you may recall the interview with National Public Radio’s public editor in which Terence Samuel, NPR’s managing editor for news, explained: “We don’t want to waste our time on stories that are not really stories, and we don’t want to waste the listeners’ and readers’ time on stories that are just pure distractions.” It is the default position of many journalists that anything undermining Democrats is by default a distraction.

Another disquieting aspect to this story is how the Department of Justice purportedly participated in burying it. Sources told Fox News, and others, that the DOJ is super sensitive about moving investigations from “covert” to “overt” during an election if they believe it could potentially affect the outcome. Their political sensitivities are irrelevant. We need to know more, but tamping down an investigation to hide it from the public before an election is as bad as accelerating an investigation to smear someone.

That's the funny thing with some still saying that the laptop doesn't exist - in which lead to these investigations and then ultimately now Hunter himself publicly acknowledging as much. But to some it still doesn't exist.

Emotion driven has always been my perception of most on the left, never let 'facts' get in the way-they make them up when needed. Now the right is doing much the same. Doesn't mean that either side doesn't make a point here or there, though never according to the other side-neither the fascists, nor the commies. What a beautiful world. (Now that is why I'm chillin')

Right now I am just shaking my head in amazement in the amount of coverage this is suddenly getting from the MSM. They trounced, shit on and stampeded on this EXACT same information prior to the election - and now we are supposed to believe they have an interest in it.
