Looks like it did some serious damage to the entire block, must have been a large packed bomb. Scumbags even left a message on the vehicle. Not sure here of the intent yet, nor who is involved.

Vehicle-Linked Explosion Rocks Downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE (AP) — An explosion linked to a vehicle rocked downtown Nashville on Christmas morning, sending shattered glass and debris over a wide area and rocking nearby buildings.

The Metro Nashville Police Department said via Twitter that the explosion occurred at 6:30 a.m. Friday and that state and federal authorities were on the scene, as were emergency crews including the fire department.

Black smoke and flames were seen early Friday billowing from the area, which is packed with bars, restaurants and other retail establishments and is known as the heart of downtown Nashville’s tourist scene.

Buildings shook in the immediate area and beyond after a loud boom was heard.

The Metro Nashville Office of Emergency Management told Nashville television station WKRN that a parked recreational vehicle exploded and damaged several buildings. No injuries were immediately reported. The station also quoted officials as saying the explosion did not seem suspicious. The fire department sent out a tweet asking residents and others to avoid the area.

Buck McCoy, who lives near the area, posted videos on Facebook that show water pouring down the ceiling of his home. Alarms blare in the background and cries of people in great distress ring in the background. A fire is visible in the street outside. McCoy said the windows of his home were entirely blown out.

Nashville Police Chief: Police Were Responding to Shots Fired Call, Came Across RV with Recorded Warning of Blast

During a press conference to provide updates on the explosion in Nashville on Friday, Nashville Police Chief John Drake stated that police responded to shots fired call, and then “encountered an RV that had a recording saying that a potential bomb would detonate within 15 minutes.”

Drake said, “This morning, around 5:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for shots fired in the downtown area, specifically 2nd and near Commerce. As officers responded, they encountered an RV that had a recording saying that a potential bomb would detonate within 15 minutes. Officers, upon hearing that, decided to evacuate the buildings nearby. So, they began knocking on doors, making announcements, having emergency communications communicate with everyone to get people safe. Shortly after that, the RV exploded. We had one officer that was knocked to the ground. Another officer is fine.”

Drake added that the police do not believe there is a risk of any further explosions in the area.

Christmas Day Explosion in Nashville Deemed ‘Intentional’ By Police

A massive explosion in downtown Nashville that sent debris multiple city blocks has been deemed “intentional” by investigators.

The Christmas Day explosion came from an RV — and could be seen “miles away” according to reports.

“MNPD, FBI & ATF investigating the 6:30 a.m. explosion on 2nd Ave N linked to a vehicle. This appears to have been an intentional act. Law enforcement is closing downtown streets as investigation continues,” the MNPD tweeted.

“Police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle parked outside the AT&T building just before 6 a.m. Upon arrival, police said an officer ‘had reason’ to alert the department’s hazardous devices unit, which was en route, when a ‘significant explosion’ happened,” the Tennessean reports.

Three people were hospitalized with injuries. First responders were unable to begin searching buildings until they were cleared by the bomb squad, but have search and rescue and cadaver dogs on the scene.
