Baldwin has claimed she was born in Mallorca, Spain, and raised in Boston. She explained on a podcast in April 2020 (https://twitter.com/rachel/status/1343063509941235712),

"I moved here [to America] when I was 19 to go to NYU from… my family lives in Spain, they live in Mallorca." The bilingual mother of five's accent has also noticeably fluctuated over the years when she made appearances on TV.

In one damning clip from the "Today" show, she appears to forget the English word for "cucumber."

Do you ever get the feeling some things get reported just to imply what can't be said explicitly? It's rather hilarious that Hilaria would claim to be born in Spain when she was born in Massachusetts. I think that's why such hilarity is being reported. Even funnier is the idea that a Spanish woman would get stuck on the work "cucumber". Spanish women know lots about cucumbers.

Interesting tidbit: When an Iberian man is named "Hilario", he presents himself as "Larry" to English speakers. I guess the feminized version doesn't have that luxury.
