I barely use Firefox at all anymore. Every now and again for various reasons, but can be completed by using any other browser. Firefox isn't a "necessary" software and deleted it goes.
Freedom of speech has slowly been under attack, and the last major assault happened in the past few days. They not only crushed it in many ways, but then took control over another entity by blackballing them unless they too eliminate freedom of speech and implement censorship.
Freedom of speech still exists here and always will. And my take from day one is that all goes with common sense. It does not mean an illegal place to join. Illegal things won't be hosted as I personally can get in trouble. Anything else folks call me a nazi for or label as "censorship" is the common sense part. This is a political discussion community and a family style environment. Folks don't come here to have nude parts of others shoved in their faces, so obviously we don't allow porn out of respect for others. Same with ONE WORD that was reported to me by several female members since 2003 on 2 sites as being offensive. I agree and also see it as something just not necessary. Other than that, anything goes in the freedom of speech world. And how it is at Parler and at Gab. They won't be places to go host illegal activities or porn collections, but you're open to speak your mind and share any story you find with others. Without fear of suspension or banishment for your opinions.
Not sure if I'll move over other SM threads, but gonna try to keep all of them in here going forward, as the news is interesting & good to keep any software options in one area.

Mozilla Chairwoman: ‘We Need More Than Deplatforming’
On Friday, the Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit organization behind the Firefox web browser, shared a list of additional actions intended to alter the “dangerous dynamics” of the internet, claiming that “the temporary silencing or permanent removal of bad actors from social media platforms” is not enough.

“This week we saw the culmination of a four-year disinformation campaign orchestrated by the President,” Mozilla wrote. “We have to acknowledge how the internet was misused to get here.”
The attached article, penned by Mozilla chairwoman Mitchell Baker and which appears on the Mozilla Foundation site’s blog, claims that “rampant use of the internet to foment violence and hate, and reinforce white supremacy is about more than any one personality.”
After criticizing the president’s “reprehensible” actions, the article then calls for more “solutions.”
“We need solutions that don’t start after untold damage has been done,” the essay continues. “Changing these dangerous dynamics requires more than just the temporary silencing or permanent removal of bad actors from social media platforms.”
According to the essay, additional “precise and specific actions” that platforms should commit to include the following:
Reveal who is paying for advertisements, how much they are paying and who is being targeted.
Commit to meaningful transparency of platform algorithms so we know how and what content is being amplified, to whom, and the associated impact.
Turn on by default the tools to amplify factual voices over disinformation.
Work with independent researchers to facilitate in-depth studies of the platforms’ impact on people and our societies, and what we can do to improve things.
