Tulsi is probably the most sane of all of the libs. Possibly Joe Manchin in 2nd for least insane.

Not Megan McCain; this is Megan McArdle.

Good points made. I don't subscribe to the "Trump fomented insurrection!" that every moonbat is crying from the rooftops. I think he was hoping that thousands of pissed off Americans might force a legitimate investigation into the obvious voter fraud that occurred, but no one suspected that our side would actually adopt the tactics of BLM rioters.

I'm quite sure there was a false flag involved with this. There was plenty of time to go plan this out, the protest had been publicized far and wide far in advance of Jan 6th. The problem with analyzing the event is that it's so muddied. False news stories, conspiracies, and deliberate undereporting of evidence from partisan journalists & investigators... it's impossible to know what went on.

That's not to say that I don't believe that a few of our guys went WAYYYY too far. They did. The Capitol Building should never have been breached. That said, after 6 months of liberals burning down many of our cities and destroying them as everyone stood by and allowed it is a bit rich when you hear how suddenly they're very concerned with protesting run amok. Yes, it's nauseating to see the outrage now.

At any rate, back to the subject... yeah, Big Tech has gone way too far. As much as I loathe Pelosi and Schumer, if they'd been shut out like Trump was, I'd be very opposed to such actions. Facebook and Twitter aren't a grocery store. They are a huge part of American interactions and exchange of ideas. The crowning touch, after censoring the sitting President, was colluding to kill off competition - only because they could. It's the same sort of abuse that the Rail Barons and industrialists used to strongarm and kill off competition that gave rise to Teddy Roosevelt's charge to break them up and shut them down.

I'm guessing that the big boys didn't study history and think this through.

Beyond all this, as the libs delight in leading the charge and cheering on this attack - they seem to blithely ignore that there are 74 million disenfranchised voters that are very pissed off. Whether this smoldering anger will flash remains to be seen, but some care should be taken by the libs right now. I've always chuckled at threats of a civil war by either side, but right now it's closer to erupting than not.

And here's a Fun Fact : Voter ID would have avoided all of this. I would have accepted the outcome and had no problem doing so. 2020 was a compromised election and was fraudulently stolen, and half of American voters feels that way - or at the very least, have grave concerns as to the legitimacy of it.

I no longer have confidence in our ability to have a free and fair election. And that, my friends, is how great nations spiral into decline.

I wish WSJ would give x number of free articles. I got an offer for $12 for year and free Saturdays print edition. While not unbiased seems one of the few decent outlets around.

Right on McCardell, I can't believe I made that mistake.

We totally agree about voter id and voter reform generally. Still nothing justifies what happened Wednesday or the undermining of our system of government, imo.

Agreed. There's nothing more dangerous or stupid than a mob. I've always thought the idiots marching in a protest were a complete waste of time. Not one protest has ever changed my mind on anything.

I'm guessing that after 6 months of socialists/antifa/anarchists running amok and burning down cities and receiving nothing but kudos and feel-good stories about "mostly peaceful" protests as molotovs were hurled into occupied police cruisers, the mob felt there was no repercussions to act badly. I'm ashamed that my side of things engaged in such behavior.

And appalled at the double standard - not that I am surprised by it. The very same idiots that cheered those actions on are the most outraged. That rachets up my anger a few notches.

You're not alone regarding the hypocrisy and justification for violence.

It is “axiomatic,” the Supreme Court held in Norwood v. Harrison (1973), that the government “may not induce, encourage or promote private persons to accomplish what it is constitutionally forbidden to accomplish.” That’s what Congress did by enacting Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act, which not only permits tech companies to censor constitutionally protected speech but immunizes them from liability if they do so.

Now that is interesting. A path forward it seems. It involves the Constitution so you know they won't like it.
