I would imagine, all of us, in one way or another... :(

I'm afraid it's a continuation of a process that started long ago. People have become less friendly, community minded and so forth over the nearly 50 years I've been around.

If the Internet didn't do it, something else would have. People normally don't do things that require more effort that is required of them.

it's the whole 'look out for me and my own' thought i think Karl. i see it alot. was surprised when i first saw it, coming from a close family and good neighbors.

I'm not surprised at all by this. We grew up in a completely different environment. Spending all day outside, running the neighborhood. Now it is texting and chattint the keep in touch. Sad.

I notice it more and more at work, too.... which is strange, because work tends to be that way to begin with.

If the Internet didn't do it, something else would have. People normally don't do things that require more effort that is required of them.I think I have read somewhere, that the breakdown of community actually broke down with the Family Farm.... People had to become more transient for jobs and income, breaking down the the family unit in and of itself, and then the community like atmosphere that came with it....disappeared to. To each his own, attitude, or even survival if looked at deeply, because they did need to put houses over their head, now that the small farmhouse wasn't there anymore because of the BIG FARMS, taking over little by little.

It was much more in depth than me and it certainly explained it better than my try above!

I thought it made sense when I read it.

Also, this lead to the elderly not having their family around when in need and the path of social programs that came after that....

i see it at my work as well, but thankfully not that much in my dept. if it don't concern those ppl, then it basically doesn't exsist.

I think driven by the media, and our culture. We have become a society or complete individualism. Where from birth we are no longer taught to consider others, or their feelings, but by being mean, we can get to the top, no matter how many people we step on along the way. I believe we need morals classes, not religious, but morals classes, and social classes, to help people become more friendly, and honorable citizens.

'Ethics' classes for all!!!!!

It used to be we learned this through osmosis, through those around us in our homes with family and also in our community. :(

Not sure I agree with the premise of the article. I mean does it matter if you are socializing online or in person if you are socializing? I mean people online can be part of a community too.

Now if you are just sitting around watching porn, i could see the problem.

I think a person needs balance. its not always easy to find. Some people get obsessed too easily.

As for lack of sex... i think thats kind of insane. If I was married, no offense to you guys, but sure as heck wouldnt be on here all the time. Id be offline taking care of things.:2up:
