Geraldo Rivera: Biden Was NOT the ‘Pathetic, Senile, Incomprehensible Old Fool Some Critics Predicted He Would Be’
Colby Hall 1 day ago

Geraldo Rivera offered the increasingly rare counter-argument to the right-of-center narrative about President Joe Biden following his first press conference and subtly criticized many of his Fox News cohorts at the same time.

Rivera joined Fox & Friends at the top of the 8 AM hour and was asked to opine on Biden’s performance at his first briefing that had occurred on Thursday, and opened with disappointment that he didn’t call on Fox News White House reporter Peter Doocy (which is a sentiment shared by others.) But it is what followed that stuck out as a unique bit of content so rarely seen on Fox News (or any cable outlet for that matter of late) in which Geraldo said the thing that no one was really expected to say.

“I must admit that he was not the pathetic senile incomprehensible old fool some critics predicted he would be in an hour-long press conference, he did a substantively fine job, answered most of the questions,” Geraldo pointed out.

(Record scratch sound effect goes here.)

This entirely reasonable analysis of impossibly low expectations (that actually benefited Joe Biden) not only echoes the very same messaging on Fox & Friends competitor Morning Joe, but directly countered the previous assessment put forth by Fox & Friends hosts and guests for the first hour of the show.

What followed was something of a miracle in the world of opinion-media: a thoughtful and mutually respectful conversation was then had, not only about Joe Biden’s performance, but about the current situation at the Southern border, the media coverage, and how Trump’s and Biden’s policies are similar and different all at once. For real.

Geraldo Rivera is no dummy, and he gave something of a masterclass on the remarkably complicated issues surrounding the border. To their credit, hosts Will Cain and Rachel Campos-Duffy offered their points of view in a manner that challenged their guest but in a way that elicited a well-informed and reasonable assessment of a very complex situation that is either a crisis — or not a crisis — depending on where one consumes his or her infotainment.

Watch above via Fox News.

IMO, too much attention is being paid to Biden's mental health. Crazy or not, he's a POS, and carrying out an agenda that is destroying this Nation, whether or not he is the originator.

Not that it will ever happen in this weak-kneed society, but IMO, you expose and go after those holding the puppets' strings, not the puppet.

Rivera was one of the original, if not THE original, over-the-top, sensationalist journalists of the 70s. He's switched sides more times than Turkey. He and Bette Midler live under the delusion that they are somehow still relevant when neither ever really was.

What will Geraldo Rivera be remembered for? Getting punched in the face for his overbearing, mosquito-like annoyance, and who can forget that great, long-awaited and dragged out forever anticlimactic opening of Al Capone's (empty) vaults?

Geraldo was actually in a combat zone babbling out info he wasn't supposed to. He tried to put a bright light on himself and claim he was stepping down out of some form of moral integrity. Money says he was told to leave.

I know it's hard to tell the idiots apart sometimes. There're just too many of them :)

Fox News host Geraldo Rivera made a splash on Friday with his comments that he would “ bet money” Trayvon Martin would not have been shot and killed if the teenager hadn’t been wearing a hoodie. Rivera has long been known for stirring up controversy — here’s POLITICO’s list of five other notable moments from the journalist’s career:

1. Rivera’s 1986 special broadcast, “The Mystery of Al Capone’s Vaults,” was one of the most hyped TV events in history — and one of the biggest busts. In the two-hour special, Rivera finally opened the famous gangster’s secret vault, but instead of finding Capone’s money or any bodies, it contained only a couple of empty bottles and dirt. The failed stunt became a pop culture landmark, and “Al Capone’s vault” is now synonymous for a heavily hyped event that amounts to absolutely nothing.

2. Rivera was covering the controversial trial of Casey Anthony, a woman suspected of killing her daughter Caylee, when he made headlines of his own in 2011. Referencing a tattoo Anthony got in the weeks after her daughter died that said “bella vita,” Rivera said on Fox, “I think it will end the prosecution case with a bang, so to speak, to show that this was a selfish, narcissistic, self-involved slut.”

3. In 2003, Rivera was traveling with the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in Iraq as a war correspondent for Fox News and ended up making a huge tactical error — he drew a map in the sand during a live broadcast pinpointing his exact location and revealing the time and details of an upcoming operation. Although it had been originally thought Rivera would be expelled from the country for giving away sensitive, classified information, a deal was ultimately reached allowing him to leave on his own.

4. That wasn’t the first time Rivera caused a commotion on the battlefield — in Afghanistan in 2001, he described on air an incident of friendly fire, claiming he had been on the scene. Rivera said he walked over “what I consider hallowed ground today” and had said the Lord’s Prayer on the land where three Americans soldiers had died the previous day. But the Baltimore Sun later reported that Rivera was actually 300 miles from the site he described. Rivera blamed his mistake on the “fog of war” and said he had confused the event near Kandahar with one where he actually was in Tora Bora — but the Tora Bora incident occurred three days after Rivera’s report.

5. In 2005, Rivera traveled to New Orleans to cover the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. But he made headlines after a New York Times report alleged he had “nudged” an Air Force rescue worker out of the way so he could be filmed helping lift an older woman in a wheelchair to safety — a charge Rivera vigorously denied. The Times did not publish a correction, but later added a note saying, “The Times acknowledges that no nudge was visible on the broadcast.”

Yeah, I was watching #3 when that went down. He'd just got done explaining that they couldn't say where they were, and then squatted down and drew a map in the sand.

I remember thinking how Stormin' Norman was going to have his silly ass for breakfast... and he was quickly de-embedded from that combat unit and Stateside within hours.
