Or so they say.

On practice late this afternoon in NY nothing had changed. Grocery story and CVS both required the mask still, even though I was vaccinated - and at that very CVS. So we shall see how it's handled going forward.

If vaccinated people no longer have to wear a mask - then my same question now applies - how will they know?

As I read in another article, businesses and cities are still free to have their own requirements. So who knows if places will require carrying proof with you or just go on honor system or everyone can go without due to the amount vaccinated.

California celebrates 'reopening day' as pandemic rules lifted

California -- the first US state to enact a stay-at-home order just under 15 months ago -- celebrated its "reopening day" Tuesday by lifting almost all pandemic-related social distancing and capacity limits.

Vaccinated people will be free to ditch their masks in nearly all of the nation's richest and most populous state, though exceptions will remain for locations including public transport, schools and hospitals.

"Finally we are here, June 15, to turn the page, to move beyond capacity limits... move beyond social distancing and physical distancing," said Governor Gavin Newsom, at a ceremony to mark "the full reopening of the California economy."

New York lifts most COVID-19 restrictions in 'return to life as we know it'

New York, which was once the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, is officially lifting most of its coronavirus restrictions.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced Tuesday that on this "momentous day", the state will immediately end almost all of its restrictions on businesses and gatherings that were put into place during the pandemic, The New York Times reports. The move came as New York reached its goal of vaccinating 70 percent of adults with at least one dose.

"What does 70 percent mean?" Cuomo said. "It means that we can now return to life as we know it. ... We can get back to living, and businesses can open because the state mandates are gone."

Cuomo previously announced that "virtually all" restrictions in the state would be relaxed once New York reached the 70 percent vaccination milestone. Mask requirements, however, still remain in effect for K-12 schools, public transit, and healthcare settings, Cuomo said, citing federal CDC guidelines. Businesses will also be left to decide whether to end precautions including mask requirements, the Times notes.

Meanwhile much of the rest of the country celebrates anniversaries of being reopened.

Was in Vegas on May 22. First day they were "open" with no mandatory mask mandate. Well, rumor was no mask if vaccinated. Yet, no one asked. Very few people wearing masks. Place was packed. The staff were still wearing masks at New York, New York. None of our party wore masks. Only one in our party of 7 is vaccinated.

The last time, and only time, I've worn a mask in last couple of months was flying to and from Vegas.

There are still some employees wearing masks in some businesses establishments here in Tucson. Mostly corporate types and not locally owned businesses.

Getting better in NY in just a few days. More and more without masks and more and more shops not requiring them. Some folks still wearing them and that's their right.
