President Joe Biden (https://abcnews.go.com/alerts/joe-biden) is set to speak to the nation Thursday afternoon to lay out what the White House said is a new six-part strategy to combat the delta variant (https://abcnews.go.com/Health/live-updates/covid-delta-variant-surge/?id=79856482), but it was unclear whether he would call for more vaccination mandates in the private sector and for the nation's schools.
A source familiar with the president's plans told ABC News that Biden will announce an executive order that will "require all federal executive branch workers to be vaccinated," as well as a second order that will direct that that standard also be applied to employees of contractors working with the federal government.
As part of this effort, the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service, and the National Institutes of Health will complete implementation of their previously announced vaccination requirements that cover 2.5 million people, the source said.

The US Postal Service is already understaffed. The Postal Workers Union has already opposed a vaccination mandate knowing it will lose union members from such a requirement. So anybody out there complaining about slow mail service you can expect even slower service in the future.

The American Postal Workers Union is opposing the Biden administration’s new order which requires federal employees to get the coronavirus vaccine or be subject to regular testing and other restrictions.
While the union said it encourages postal workers to get the shot, the APWU made it clear that the government should not be forcing vaccination, either.
“Maintaining the health and safety of our members is of paramount importance,” the union said in a statement (https://www.apwu.org/news/apwu-statement-mandatory-vaccination-federal-employees). “While the APWU leadership continues to encourage postal workers to voluntarily get vaccinated, it is not the role of the federal government to mandate vaccinations for the employees we represent.”
