I plugged in headphones to my computer but the sound wont come through them, it continues to go through the regular computer speakers.

How do I get it to come through the headphones?

Make sure you are plugged into the proper jack, if the jack is on the front panel make sure it's hooked up internally or plug directly into the sound card where the speakers are plugged in.

Also you need to check software settings. If you're using Windows then find Control Panel and check sound settings. Sometimes a headset isn't recognised and you have to manually set the default using the gui settings.

If you're running other than Windows - say Linux - then sound is complex but not beyond resolving.
