How Old Is Granddad?

Stay with this -- the answer is at the end.
It may blow you away.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandfather about current events.

The grandson asked his grandfather what he thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.

The Grandfather replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born before:
' television
' penicillin
' polio shots
' frozen foods
' Xerox
' contact lenses
' Frisbees and
' the pill

There were no:
' credit cards
' laser beams or
' ball-point pens

Man had not invented :
' pantyhose
' air conditioners
' dishwashers
' clothes dryers
' and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and
' space travel was only in Flash Gordon books.

Your Grandmother and I got married first,... and then lived together.

Every family had a father and a mother. Until I was 25, I called every woman older than me, "mam". And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, "Sir".

We were before gay-rights, computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.

Our lives were governed by the Bible, good judgment, and common sense. We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions

Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege... We thought fast food was eating half a biscuit while running to catch the school bus.

Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.

Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started.

Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums.

We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.

We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the Prime Minister's speeches on our radios. And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey.

If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan ' on it, it was junk.

The term 'making out' referred to how you did on your school exam....

Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of.

We had 5 & 10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents. Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel. And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.

You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.

In my day:
' "grass" was mowed,
' "coke" was a cold drink,
' "pot" was something your mother cooked in and
' "rock music" was your grandmother's lullaby.
' "Aids" were helpers in the Principal's office,
' "chip" meant a piece of wood,
' "hardware" was found in a hardware store and
' "software" wasn't even a word.

And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.

How old do you think I am?

I bet you have this old man in mind...you are in for a shock!

Read on to see -- pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time .

Are you ready ?????

This man would be 74 years old today. (2021)

GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT... PASS THIS ON TO THE OLD ONES, The younger generation would not understand

Not scary to me. And the first President I saw in person was EISENHOWER. Also saw KENNEDY in my home town on a SATURDAY with my sister.

You old people love sentimentality and the weird idea that the past was better in so many ways -- basically more simple and less worrying for old dodderers .

Pity you did not manage to make long term permanent improvements and support the right people to achieve them .

The present mess and impending species calamities rolled out of your History .Only yourselves to blame .

^^^ Typical millennial/zed reaction.

Your generation will be no different and worse in some ways.

You may survive, but the toys now are far, far more dangerous.

Life gives no participation trophies.

As a 74 year old, sentimental old dodderer. I get a real ENJOYMENT reading what you said above...knowing...IF YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO SURVIVE. That all of you will ONE DAY become the SENTIMENTAL OLD DODDERERS you now talk down to, and disrespect. Even though People our age as OLD DODDERERS INVENTED nearly everything you now have in life that allows you even to WRITE with your fingers on a keyboard and HAPPILY MAKE FOOLS OF YOURSELF..at Our Expense.

Hey ICI, are you forgetting? These younger folks invented rap “music”, internet porn, twerking, and many more delightfully uplifting things. Plus abortion on demand up to and including at birth. And legalized on line gambling, which I am sure has been a real plus for families everywhere.

That list encourages me to use the term gross for the first time ever .

Collectively the young seem very stupid but collectively their parents have been criminally negligent .

Perhaps enlightened benevolent leaders are a much better answer .

I must ask: Are the items gross, or am I gross for listing them?

They will never understand why it's so EASY for us to just smile, and laugh at them.

Just waiting now to see how long they insist on disrespecting us, and our wisdom when the YOU KNOW WHAT hits the fan, and they are all OUT OF MONEY, BATTERIES, And Politicians who have no more PROMISES to break.

Since they all believe they are smarter than all of us, and are laughing at us.
I'd be willing to bet...9 out of 10 Millennials, Radicals, College Students, and Government School teachers...HAVE NO IDEA what is just around the corner.
And the funniest part is...They will all probably blame Trump for it. While all Biden will need is a change of Diapers, and an ICE CREAM CONE.

The PISSOFF is still lurking like a bunch of rotting banana's. @Black Diamond (http://www.debatepolicy.com/member.php?u=2142) EMP - electro magnetic pulse. We have the most nukes. Russia has the second most. Can't leave out China.

Point being, no one can actually win a nuclear trade-off. Next step? Disable your enemy's nukes. Have not seen one used, and last I heard duration is brief. What one would want is to extend duration. Basically, it shuts down all things requiring electricity.

The root idea is to attack the Nation's power grid. As we have seen over the years and especially in Texas last winter, it's not hard at all to bring this nation to its knees. The element of our society that cannot function without electronics is going to be in a world of hurt, and a lot of them will die if we lose our power infrastructure for any extended length of time.

Just this alone: how many people live in places they otherwise could not without an artificial environment? I have no real number, but let's say a LOT. As example, look at all the retirees that love Phoenix, AZ. How long do you think those old folks are going to last without AC? Even here. We grew up without it, but later generations plan their lives around it during the summer.

Most people can't start a fire, build a simple shelter, hunt their dinner, etc without some artificial, man-made and delivered means.

If you don't have an EMP, you can shut this Nation down with a virus

While I was still in the navy. In communications. We had already developed alternate plans to operate without Satellite, and today's GPS systems that would become the FIRST things to disappear during an "EMP" event. At least that's what we called it as far back as the year I retired in 1995.

What concerns me as much is people like Milley being in charge. As far as I know, if it is a weapon, it's still experimental. Kathianne once posted something on the EMPs that knows moe about them than I do. I just know generally how it works.

We also know that China has the capability, and suspect both Russia and Iran as well.

If you GOOGLE "Does the U.S. Have EMP?" There are several large articles about it.

From what I remember while I was still on active duty in 95. It was made public then, as sort of a terrible warning...but not announced to many civilians who had no idea what EMP was.

Things have really, really changed since then. Here is only one Link:https://futurism.com/us-nuclear-weapons
