McConnell Excoriates Biden’s Voting Rights Speech in Fiery Senate Floor Rant: ‘Profoundly, Profoundly Unpresidential’
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) slammed Joe Biden on Wednesday over the president’s speech the previous day about voting rights.
In remarks on the Senate floor, McConnell did not hold back as he excoriated Biden’s speech in Atlanta:
Uniting our people and uniting our nation. Yesterday that very same man delivered a deliberately divisive speech that was designed to pull our country further apart. Twelve months ago this president said we should see each other not as adversaries but as neighbors. Yesterday he called millions of Americans his domestic enemies. Twelve months ago the president called on Americans to join forces, stop the shouting. Lower the temperature.
McConnell made reference to a part of Biden’s speech in which he appeared to suggest that Republicans can either be on the side of America’s greatest or worst.
“So I ask every elected official in America: How do you want to be remembered? The Consequential moments in history, they present a choice,” said Biden during his speech. “Do you want to be on the side of Dr. [Martin Luther] King or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis?”
McConnell scolded Biden for “[comparing] a bipartisan majority of senators to literal traitors,” something that the former called “profoundly, profoundly unpresidential.”
“I’ve known and liked and personally respected Joe Biden for many years,” said McConnell. “I did not recognize the man at the podium yesterday.”

This country is already so damned divided from years prior. Of course Biden makes promises of unity.
He has failed massively already on that point. And not only failed, but purposely pushed even more division & him and his cohorts push division for their agendas.

Once again the shrew speaks, doubling down on Biden's incoherent BS
If the public lies to the government, it's perjury. If the government lies to the public, it's news
OAN Newsroom
UPDATED 11:11 AM PT – Thursday, January 13, 2022The White House is defending Joe Biden’s push for voting rights reform amid mounting GOP scrutiny over his recent speech in Georgia. During a briefing Tuesday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Biden’s remarks clearly struck a nerve and dismissed claims the address was offensive to those who disagree with him.
“The majority of the American public elected the president to do hard things and to fight for hard things, including fighting for issues that may feel like an uphill battle,” she stated. “But they’re vitally important to protecting fundamental rights of the American public.”
The press secretary also said it’s disappointing Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is arguing against voting rights reform. McConnell took to the podium to highlight a series of bizarre remarks Biden made on Tuesday like when he compared supporters of the voting rights bill to civil rights icons and foes to segregationists. The Kentucky Republican said Biden must stop pushing false hysteria and rage on Americans.
“Every single major legislative effort that the President has undertaken, that that he’s been a part of, has been subjected to all manner of speculation and criticism about whether it would happen or not,” Psaki continued. “And if the President paid attention to that, he probably wouldn’t have run for president to begin with.”
The White House official then claimed Biden is not paying attention to critics of his agenda. She also accused Republicans of trying to make it more difficult to vote regarding efforts in many states to pass voter integrity laws.
