We know Xi wants to take Taiwan but China is busy with the games right now. But they come to an end this Sunday.

I suspect an agreement between Xi and Putin to move simultaneously.
They know the US under the current administration is not going to do much, if anything, to prevent it, especially if they move at the same time.

Biden has a plan to call Putin and say "Cmon man!" several times, and if Putin doesn't agree to stand down then Biden will say "This is a bunch of malarkey!" in a very stern voice. Besides that, I believe the only plan is to let Ukraine defend itself until it is overwhelmed. Afghanistan made us look very weak, and nothing provokes attacks so much as looking like an easy target.
