I love Trump.

But here's the thing...

I donated many times to him during his run up to the election. ONLY him and only him and only to his name.

But I got completely inundated with emails and texts. It didn't stop after the election but continues for much of his term in office. And started getting texts to support Pence and members of the GOP in general.

Then after Trump left office it got worse. Things picked up and it was non-stop texts for his support & much much more. And I would block numbers non-stop and then just get hit with more and more similar numbers with the more I blocked!

Eventually I blocked like 150 numbers before things slowly died down after he left office. But still get them here and there from Washington numbers to local numbers. Just got one today from an "833" area code, about needing a massive amount of money for the GOP and had a photo attached asking for all pro-Trump conservatives.

For that shitty reason - he can take his own massive wealth and buy his own damn plane.

Trump Asks Supporters to Give Him Money For New Plane After Emergency Landing Over the Weekend

Donald Trump’s PAC sent out an email blast telling the former president’s supporters to give him cash for a new private jet called “Trump Force One.”

On Wednesday, multiple reports ran the story Trump was traveling on a plane that had to make an emergency landing after a speech he gave to a number of Republican National Committee donors in New Orleans. The plane belonged to a GOP donor who lent it to Trump so he could fly back to Mar-a-Lago, but shortly after take-off, the plane returned to the airport because of a reported engine failure, and Trump caught a flight on another donor’s plane instead.

Insider reports that hours after the story got picked up by the media, the Trump Save America PAC emailed supporters with a request they contribute to “Trump Force One’s” construction if they want to see it. The email links to a webpage where people are asked to give monthly recurring donations for as much as $2,500 a month.

“I need to trust that you won’t share it with anyone: my team is building a BRAND NEW Trump Force One,” the email said. “The construction of this plane has been under wraps — not even the fake news media knows about it — and I can’t wait to unveil it for everyone to see.”

Especially given current circumstances in the World and here at home economically. This just strikes me as wrong.

It all smacks of some of the worst televangelists one could imagine. I never donated to trump but after the election I somehow got on a crapload of email lists asking for donations; eventually they all went away.

Same thinking here. And if you shared you email/number to anyone in the group somehow or someway - they abused it. That's a no go for me and pissed me off.

It obviously wasn't Trump himself, but it soured me on donating or having connections with anyone in the future.

Join the NRA. The was BEFORE the internet. I can only imagine how bad they are with that tool of mass marketing at their disposal. Paid my $25 annual to do my part and that was that as far as I was concerned. At least once a month I'd get from each (NRA and ILA) fearmongering, "we're going to lose our Rights today -- RIGHT NOW - every second counts" Chicken Little propaganda today's Dems would be proud of.

Pissed me off so I never renewed. They STILL followed me through 2 duty station changes/2 states for about 4 years.

How to ruin a just cause 101.

Same here, and my wife. We are members and we get mail from them non-stop. Shit doesn't work on me, only annoys me.

Moral of the story though? Next time I give them 'ol Gunny's info instead!! :coffee:

FWIW. Trump says he doesn't need a plane and isn't using campaign funds to get one. Says he never say e-mail before it went out.

AP is never Trump, but it might be worthwhile to ignore the bias for the longer picture:

Not that I would know anything about such personality traits :halo9: and or the damage they can do in just a half second's slip of the tongue.

He appears to me to be ALWAYS just on the edge of just going off. It is REALLY hard to keep a cap on that 24-7, and he's looking to multiply his stress by thousands. Especially, as noted in the link, there's no going around Trump to get where he wants and Trump is a nasty, no-holds-barred fighter. DeSantis would have to run a near flawless campaign without getting dragged into playing Trump's game.

I agree with the author that DeSantis is far more qualified as a politician than Trump. Trump's inexperience in politics got in his way a LOT.

Yep, I too have reservations about him, he seems a bit too inspired by Trump I fear. I've seen those glimmers of temper, though that may be preferable to Biden's somnolelence. Still, his instincts seem right, we'll see how it shakes out.

What I don't like about it is both have, IMO, committed the same overreach Biden has with his "mandates" by issuing their own.

In the "two wrongs don't make a right" category, countering Biden just to counter Biden while forcing one's own beliefs on everyone in the process doesn't seem like a good choice.

I like DeSantis and in reference to Disney ... not good news for them right now. Some employees were arrested for participating in child porn/trafficking.

I don't want a hothead for a President. Day's still young and got a long way to go before I start tossing candidates to the curb.

Didn't mention Disney either. I happen to agree with DeSantis' argument against Disney. Might as well call the lace Fagville and be done with it. I wouldn't take my kids to it given it's catering to the woke crowd nowadays. Used to be about princesses, Donald Duck n such.

Besides, Kings Dominion (the Paramount version of Disneyworld) just north of Richmond has more adult stuff to do along with plenty of kiddie stuff.
