Such a shame. Starting QB Mitch Trubisky had invited him and other offensive starters down to his house in Florida to get to know him since he just signed this year.

Dwayne was so damn young. And even though Washington didn't work out, as such a great QB he may have flourished in a new environment. Doesn't matter now.

RIP Dwayne. :(

STAR GONE Dwayne Haskins dead at 24: Steelers player killed after being hit by car in South Florida weeks before birthday

NFL star Dwayne Haskins has died after being struck by a dump truck just weeks after signing a new contract, the Pittsburgh Steelers have confirmed.

The quarterback was killed on Saturday morning while attempting to cross highway I-95 on foot around 7am in Boca Raton in southern Palm Beach, Florida, where the team is training.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said that he is "truly heartbroken" over the tragic death, while fans of the former Ohio State star took to social media to pay tribute.

"He quickly became part of our Steelers family upon his arrival in Pittsburgh and was one of our hardest workers, both on the field and in our community," Tomlin's statement read.

"Dwayne was a great teammate, but even more so a tremendous friend to so many."

The 24-year-old's death comes just weeks before his birthday on May 3, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

That is awful.

Really is. Such a sad story for such a young guy no matter who he may have played for.

Heads to sunny Florida to practice and ends up dead.
