Not buying the Russian story. Even given the bumbling of Russia's military. It is HIGHLY unlikely a simple fire is going to take down a cruiser. They Navy spends too much time on damage control/fire drills and compartments are water/air tight.

On the other hand, two missiles in the right places could scuttle a cruiser, and far more likely.

Russia (https://www.foxnews.com/category/world/world-regions/russia) confirmed Wednesday that the flagship of its Black Sea fleet had been evacuated after it was "seriously damaged," claiming that a fire on board caused an explosion, Russian media said.
The vessel was evacuated, Reuters reported.
Ukrainian (https://www.foxnews.com/category/world/conflicts/ukraine) officials, however, said their military hit the ship with two cruise missiles (https://www.foxnews.com/category/world/conflicts). Russia didn't go into detail about what it believed caused the fire.
