In Memoriam to James Caan – His Top Seven James Caan Roles

7. Freebie and the Bean – Nice copy buddy-movie with James in the first of the two title roles

6. Get Smart (The Movie) – James played the President and made it onto a very short list of people in both Get Smart the TV show and Get Smart the Movie. I wish he were the President right now.

5. Elf – James’ only Christmas movie and one of Will Ferrell’s funny movies.

4. Brian’s Song – Classic and based in truth movie where James is Brian Piccolo and Billy Dee Williams is Gale Sayers, both running backs on the Chicago Bears. Even Vladimir Putin cried at the end of this movie.

3. Chapter Two – One of Abbey’s favorite movies, which makes it #3!

2. Get Smart (TV Series) – James does an unforgettable portrayal of the villain ‘Rupert of Rathskeller” in a two-part episode of Russ’s favorite sitcom. ;) I think this was James Caan's only TV appearance.

1. The Godfather – I think James Caan was born to be Sonny Corleone, and impressively demonstrates to the whole world the by-far most effective method of getting an abusive husband to stop being abusive.

As we see those that cross over, we are forced to face the reality, that we all will one day make that journey.
And it is far better to be prepared ( with faith), than it is not to be prepared. --Tyr
