Rail workers are set to strike again over pay, conditions, and job cuts on Wednesday July 27. The 24-hour strike has been announced following an offer from Network Rail that has been described by the RMT Union, which represents many people working on the railways, as "paltry".Strikes took place over three days in June (21, 23, and 25), meaning that many services were cancelled. In Cambridge and Peterborough, train stations were unusually empty as passengers chose to cancel their journeys or find other means of transportation.
The July 27 strike has been announced after Network Rail made an offer of a 4 per cent pay rise for workers backdated to January 2022. This would be followed by a possible 4 per cent pay rise in the following year if RMT members accepted the terms and conditions set out by train companies...
