So I've noticed on the news the last couple of days that local authorities and churches are opening warming facilities ahead of the cold snap.

Warming facilities for the unhoused.

So, could someone please explain to me how the term "unhoused" is any better, any more sympathetic, any less stigmatizing than "homeless?"

The stupidity of thinking if you soften the impact of the words, it will somehow magically soften the impact of the actual situation.

For future reference just as the formerly homeless are now unhoused you will now be known as sympathy challenged rather than A*hole.
