Not a fan. Overlapping mutual defense treaties allowed a pissant, nothing nation to trigger WW I. The UK, Germany, France, Russia and in the end the US had nothing to gain by going to war over the assassination of Franz-Ferdinand.

Get your terms correct. Trade embargo, not tariffs. It worked so well on Japan in the 1930s.

Tariffs create an artificial bubble for an economy and protects what is within. Until the bubble bursts. It always does. Then the economy tanks. Really bad plan.

i don't think patriotism is an artificial bubble as you do.
