I wish Will Hurd could get some traction...Haven't seen a thing around here about him. He's from here. Anyone that can ride from San Antonio to DC with O'Rourke in the car and didn't leave him at a rest stop somewhere (in E. Texas)is suspect in my book.

Wow i can't see mick liking that.Don't know. I quit trying to figure out Mick long ago. No one's running on "Leave me the F Alone" that I'm aware of

Hurd has a good message:

He's one poll short of making the debate cut as of 2 days ago.

I'm just glad he didn't call me bleeding heart liberal faggot like so many do when you don't support Trump... of course that may be because Gunny is not a big Trump guy himself...

It's almost shocking to me that he's not doing better. He's going to have to figure out some way to make noise and get his message out there.

Fun Fact: My mother, a life long liberal Democrat, not crazy liberal, not hard left, just your standard life long liberal Democrat, donated money to Hurd's campaign. The first time in her life she's ever given money to a Republican.

Anemic poll numbers barred him from the debate stage, but Hurd also fell short of another requirement by declining to pledge his support for the eventual Republican nominee: “I will not sign a blood oath to Donald Trump.”

And how many times have they (will they) changed the rules this time ?

I have no idea. I'm really not the person that is up on the Republican Presidential debates as I am 100% against them on a good day. All they have ever done IMO is allow Republicans to tear down other Republicans in front of the Nation and the Dems, the latter diligently taking notes for future use.

I also think as long as the Republican party is carrying Trump as the party's front-runner, his absence makes the debates meaningless/pointless.

IIRC, the last one I even half-watched turned into a verbal sparring session between Trump and Megyn Kelly.

They can change the rules for who qualifies in whatever manner they want. I seem to remember Ron Paul being disqualified but I don't recall how.

I don't blame him, but in the end, signing the paper is meaningless. Does anyone think Jeb Bush voted for Trump in 2016 just because he signed the pledge? Does anyone think Trump would support the nominee if it was anyone but Trump? Yeah, me neither...

It's a ridiculous qualifier.

Trump To Host Live Stream Of Debates Where He Insults The Other Candidates MST3K-StylePOLITICS

PALM BEACH, FL — Despite choosing to not participate in the Republican primary debates, former President Donald Trump announced he will be live-streaming the debates so he can make off-the-cuff wisecracks and insult the other candidates in the style of the beloved television series Mystery Science Theater 3000.

"It'll be the greatest debate broadcast of all time," Trump said in the announcement on his Truth Social account. "The only reason anyone wants to watch the debate is if I'm there to tell the truth about these other WEAK candidates. That is why I will be streaming the debate LIVE with my own commentary as an homage to the beautiful show MST3K. Look for my silhouette at the bottom of the screen. It will be the blackest, most beautiful silhouette, and my commentary will STEAL the show, just like the rigged 2020 election was STOLEN from me! MAGA!"

Trump's campaign team has already set up a green screen room with theater-style seating for Trump so that the outline could be superimposed over the debate broadcast. "It's going to be a great show," said campaign communications manager Steven Cheung. "Not only will it be far more entertaining than the debate itself but it will also show the voters why President Trump is the only choice. Plus, it'll have puppets."

At publishing time, Trump's inner circle was reportedly exploring expanding the format to also cover future debates and campaign speeches given by President Joe Biden, seeing the potential for creating a lucrative television series.

Hurd calls Ramaswamy ‘a pretty bad lounge act of Donald Trump’BY JULIA SHAPERO - 08/24/23 1:00 PM ET

Former Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) called his campaign rival Vivek Ramaswamy a “pretty bad lounge act” of former President Trump, following the conservative entrepreneur’s performance at the first Republican primary debate on Wednesday.

“I think he’s a pretty bad lounge act of Donald Trump and is trying to … thinks that he’s going to be able to be a new version of Donald Trump,” said Hurd, who did not qualify for the debate, in a Thursday interview on CNN.

“But unfortunately, the truth is, you do not win an election by mimicking someone who has lost,” he continued. “Donald Trump is a proven loser. He hasn’t won an election since 2016. And when you’re trying to be a clone of someone who’s already in the race, you’re never going to be successful.”

Ramaswamy, who has recently seen his support tick upward in the polls, was a target and instigator of attacks on the seven other candidates in Wednesday’s debate.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley slammed Ramaswamy over his stance on the war in Ukraine, saying during a fiery exchange the political newcomer has “no foreign policy experience, and it shows.”

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he “had enough already tonight of a guy who sounds like ChatGPT,” while former Vice President Mike Pence appeared to take aim at Ramaswamy with his comment that “we don’t need to bring in a rookie.”

Hurd criticized the entire slate of candidates on the debate stage over the “name-calling” and “back-and-forth,” which he compared to a reality TV show.

“At times last night, it seemed like we were watching a ‘Real Housewives’ reunion on Bravo rather than a Republican primary debate,” the presidential hopeful said. “And I think we saw last night a lot of people on the stage that have talent, but there was a lack of vision.”

“There’s a lot of people that are not running against Donald Trump,” Hurd added. “They’re running to be his vice president.”

He about nails it, especially the part about them running to be Trump's VP, well except for Pence, Christie, and Hutchinson.

I like him even more now...
