I know no one lives forever, but this one... this one hit me harder than most...

I've seen him live more times than I can count. His catalogue is so much deeper than most people know... most folks only know two of his songs, and those aren't even in the top ten of his best... When you saw him live, you knew he was cognizant of the fact that the people in the audience were the folks that gave him the life he had and allowed him to live the dream, he gave the impression, rightly or wrongly, that he appreciated that.

Thanks for the good times, Jimmy, it's been a lovely cruise...

Back in 1990, before the Gulf War started. Jimmy came to our ship in Key West to shake hands with
a lot of the guys at the time. It was the first time for the ship since we commissioned in July 1989 in New Orleans.

I did get to see him, but not close enough for a handshake...and yes...He sang 'MARGARITAVILLE". What a great guy he seemed to be.

RIP Jimmy! No doubt...there are probably millions now drinking a TOAST for him as they cry.
