What's the Intel on their economy?

My economic knowledge leaves much to be desired. I've not seen much on Japan lately, other than comparisons that China is going 'Japan' right now. I do remember when Japan was 'going to pass the US economically' because of discipline, etc., as opposed to US. Then bust. Now China seems on same footing. We'll see.

After your question just looked to see what popped up on 'Japan economics now.' Mixed results from headlines-Japan is slowing down, partially due to China's downturn. Japan is finally coming out of bust, that was 3 weeks ago, news since isn't as hopeful. Just a snapshot, I know nothing!
