They think all their do-gooder talk makes a difference. All people inherently are good are think alike and they can be reasoned with. It's a shortcut to the head of the getting yourself killed line.

That is true. Millions of American fail to realize just how very dark and outright savage the world is once you leave our shores..
A very sad error that sometimes gets them hurt or killed overseas. Tyr
