Comes down to whether or not Gaetz can get enough R votes to oust McCarthy. No help from Dems. Guess they think someone better will come along:rolleyes:

I sincerely hope they expel Gaetz. POS. Another one that's all about himself and his ego rather than party or the People.

“We are following our leader, and we are not saving Kevin McCarthy,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (https://thehill.com/people/pramila-jayapal/)(D-Wash.), chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told reporters.
Asked whether a decision was made as a caucus not to support McCarthy, Rep. Zoe Lofgren (https://thehill.com/people/zoe-lofgren/)(D-Calif.) responded, “Yes.”

The have no gain in throwing McCarthy a life preserver but who else would take his place? Chaos for chaos sake apparently.Same question for Republican't's. Who else? Certainly not Gaetz. Who does that leave?

One important factor no one cares about and MSM sure isn't making any effort to point out: McCarthy is the single biggest Republican fundraiser.

Kevin McCarthy’s speakership is hanging by a thread.

Democrats unanimously joined with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and 11 conservatives to support advancing the speaker's removal, a signal that McCarthy may not have the support to keep his post on Tuesday.

For the first time in 113 years, the House will move on to voting on the speaker's removal. Unless McCarthy can flip some of the 11 Republicans who voted against him on the first round, he will likely lose his gavel. If he's ousted, however, his allies expect he would try to run for speaker again.
The Republicans who voted to proceed to a final vote on evicting McCarthy were Reps. Warren Davidson (Ohio), Eli Crane (Ariz.), Ken Buck (Colo.), Victoria Spartz (Ind.), Andy Biggs (Ariz.), Matt Rosendale (Mont.), Matt Gaetz (Fla.), Bob Good (Va.), Nancy Mace (S.C.), Tim Burchett (Tenn.) and Cory Mills (Fla.). Spartz has already said she plans to flip her stance and ultimately support keeping McCarthy on.

Looking pretty bad .. the vote is 216 to vacate and 206 to not vacate. I think there's 11 who haven't voted. Pretty sure they're not all Republicans. They're calling the missing voters now.

Looks like some people refuse to vote. Pelosi didn't vote. Go figure.

It's now 216 to vacate and 210 to not vacate. There's only 433 total so all remaining votes have to vote no to save McCarthy. It's extreme quiet right now. Asking if anyone wants to change their vote.

So ridiculous.

So ridiculous.Worse, who exactly are they going to replace him with that's going to get all Republican votes? Because that's what's needed without Dem help.

Here's a plan: The Freedom Caucus can once again obstruct Congress by refusing to vote for anyone that's not one of them:rolleyes:

Meantime, interim Speaker will be someone McCarthy chooses. Is there a gain here for anyone but the Dems?
